Sesame Organisation (formerly known as EVR) has opened the sign-ups for the next round of group support spaces. These sessions will run online, twice a month, beginning at the end of July/early August.

To join, participants must identify as East or Southeast Asian (ESEA*), live in the UK, and be 18+. Please feel free to pass along this sign-up form to any ESEA community members who might benefit from these sessions.

What is talking therapy?

In the UK, counselling and psychotherapy are interchangeable terms for talking therapy. Some differentiate them by short-term or long-term work, some by specific or complex issues, and some by how deep-seated the patterns are. Therapeutic talking is a skill that requires years of training and practice to master; ultimately, it is about finding a therapist who speaks your language.

I am a psychodynamic counselling psychotherapist fluent in English, Cantonese, and Hakka, dedicated to promoting diversity and inclusive practices. Additionally, I am a qualified clinical hypnotherapist, incorporating NLP and EMDR, and a relationship therapist trained by the Gottman Institute.

I work with adults, couples, and families, focusing on unconscious processes and their impacts. These may include habits, reactions, feelings, or emotions that affect behaviour, memories, identity, and relationships. Communication is a skill, as the nuances of conversation can influence meaning and interpretation. It is an exploratory skill that fosters understanding, enhances knowledge, and provides emotional release.

Whether addressing a current issue, past trauma, a mental state, a disorder, or simply offering a space to offload thoughts, a talking therapist must be proficient in containment. I am competent and experienced in containment.

I will assist with the processes, call out blind spots, and highlight alternative perspectives. I can help with the difficulties you present, and together, we will work towards the most appropriate solution. A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step. And that step is to reach out and begin the process. It may not be easy, but it will be enlightening.

Easter weekend is a great time for some self-care. Here are a few ideas to help you relax and recharge:

~ Nature walk ~
Spend time outdoors, enjoying the spring blooms and fresh air. A walk in the park or a nearby trail can be refreshing.

~ Mindful meditation ~
Take a few moments to meditate. Focus on your breath or listen to a guided meditation to help clear your mind.

~ Relaxing bath ~
Treat yourself to a warm bath with essential oils or bath salts. Light some candles for a calming atmosphere.

~ Read ~
Dive into a good book or listen to an audiobook. Choose something uplifting or inspiring.

~ Cook/bake ~
Prepare a special meal or bake some treats. Cooking can be therapeutic and fun!

~ Disconnect ~
Consider taking a break from screens and social media to focus on yourself and your surroundings.

Choose what resonates with you, and enjoy your Easter weekend!

It’s important to be open, honest and patient. Progress can take time. Allow yourself the space to grow and learn at your own pace.
