Tamhi Tackling Awareness of Mental Health Issues

Tamhi Tackling Awareness of Mental Health Issues Mental Health Charity: Sports, Youth & Schools Creating an environment where people can ask for help and support when needed.

About Us

TAMHI is a mental health awareness charity set up in 2011 by Joe Donnelly and Stephen McLaughlin in memory of Thomas "Tammy Tucker" McLaughlin who took his own life in 2009. TAMHI stands for Tackling Awareness of Mental Health Issues and the charity is set up to work with sport groups willing to use the power of sport to promote Positive Mental Fitness. Sport is reflective of our society as a whole and therefore it is important that sport addresses the importance of promoting a positive mental fitness for all. The World Health Organisation (WHO) estimates that one in four of us will experience a mental illness at some point in their lives. Participating in sport has a positive contribution to make to a personโ€™s welfare if their experience is one that reflects the positive values of sport;

This is MY place. ๐Ÿ’šโšฝ

For some children, the football pitch isnโ€™t just where they train. Itโ€™s where they breathe.
Where they belong. Where they feel seen.

During Childrenโ€™s Mental Health Week (9โ€“15 Feb) weโ€™re standing with TAMHI to remind every young player:

You donโ€™t have to handle things on your own.

Your sports clubs are more than teams.
They are safe spaces.
They are support networks.
They are places where teammates look out for each other.

If youโ€™re struggling โ€” or you know a young person who is โ€” help is only a message away.

๐Ÿ“ฑ Text โ€œTEAMMATEโ€ to 85258

Letโ€™s be the generation that checks in.
Letโ€™s be the teammate who notices.
Letโ€™s build clubs where mental strength matters just as much as physical strength.

Itโ€™s more than just a game.
Itโ€™s who you become. ๐Ÿ’š

Sandy Row Football Club is about much more than just the Football. It is a safe ๐‘บ๐‘ท๐‘จ๐‘ช๐‘ฌ for the kids to come and make new friends, learn new skills, work in teams, learn discipline and routine while keeping their body and minds fit and active.

Most importantly, they get to use their ๐‘บ๐‘ท๐‘จ๐‘ช๐‘ฌ at the football club to enjoy and express themselves while improving both on and off the pitch as players and young people.

As a club, we are pround to stand beside our Mental Health Awareness partners ๐—ง.๐—”.๐— .๐—›.๐—œ and support Children's Mental Health Week 2026 ๐Ÿง

๐ŸŸกโšซ๏ธMore Than Just a Pitch โšฝ๐ŸŸกโšซ๏ธ

For our young players, football is about so much more than the final score. Itโ€™s where they find a safe space to belong, the courage to build confidence, and a community where they can truly talk.

This is Childrenโ€™s Mental Health Week (Feb 9โ€“15), we are proud to stand alongside Place2Be and T.A.M.H.I. to champion the power of positive mental health through sport.

Why it Matters:

โ€ข Beyond the Game: We aren't just a team; weโ€™re a family.

โ€ข Every Voice Counts: At Knockbreda, we listen, we care, and we support.

โ€ข A Place for Everyone: Every child deserves to feel they belong.

Weโ€™re tackling the stigma and ensuring our players are champions both on and off the pitch. ๐Ÿ’›๐Ÿ–ค

Itโ€™s a safe space to move, connect, learn, and grow.

Your football is your space.
Your club is your space.

Put them together and you get My Space.
