⚡️Meet the newest team member at SHP ⚡️

Today I’m really pleased to welcome Olha to SHP as our full time receptionist ✨

Olha spent the day in clinic today meeting patients and getting to know how we do things at SHP.
She will be working remotely and from later this week will be the friendly voice answering your calls and emails and helping with appointments and day to day queries.
Having Olha on board helps us manage enquiries more smoothly and makes it easier for patients to get in touch while we focus on appointments and care.
If you’re in touch with us later this week Olha will be there to help and we’re delighted to have her as part of the team 🙌🏻

2025 marked the 4th year of SHP and an important one for the business ⚡️
I took this photo earlier this year when I was setting goals across clinical work, study and business development without fully appreciating the level of commitment they would require. Managing competing priorities, growing responsibility and making decisions along the way brought challenges but also real clarity around the direction and standards I want the business to be built around.
What continues to matter most is the care we deliver ❤️I’m incredibly grateful to the patients who put their trust in us and to the colleagues who refer and support our patients. Growing the clinic alongside a team who care about the service we provide has been one of the most meaningful parts of the year.
Spending time in London as part of my MSc and learning from leaders in the profession has been a privilege and has quietly influenced the direction the clinic continues to take. Collaboration beyond the clinic has also been a highlight and continues to shape how we work. 🤝
Moving into 2026 the focus is on being clear about what matters most while continuing to grow the SHP team.
Here’s to 2026 🥂Happy New Year✨

Big toe (1st MTPJ ) osteoarthritis (OA) is one of the most common forms of foot OA. It typically causes pain and stiffness in the joint which is aggravating by movement.
There is evidence that carbon fibre insoles are more effective vs sham insoles at reducing pain at 12, 24 & 52 weeks as well as being a more cost effective treatment option.
The carbon fibre insole has an extension under the big toe joint which will help to stiffen footwear & aid propulsion. Super useful, low bulk tool for several foot injuries!

It’s normal to see wear and tear on your shoes particularly around the heel or toe areas.
However, unusual wear patterns, like the ones pictured, can reveal a lot about your walking or running biomechanics especially in the context of a foot or ankle injury.
We always look out for unusual or significant shoe wear during our initial assessments. That’s why we encourage all patients to bring their active footwear along to their appointments.
One question we’re often asked is: how often should I replace my running shoes?
Short answer: Evidence suggests that running shoes should typically be replaced every 300 to 500 miles (500 to 800 km).
For race day carbon-plated super shoes the lifespan is often much shorter due to the outsole materials providing lightweight construction and performance focused design. These shoes are built for speed, not durability 💨
If you’re worried about unusual shoe wear and you’re experiencing a foot or ankle injury we can assess this in clinic! ⚡️
