How can the word normal and grief even appear in the same sentence ?
Unbelievabley and sadly they do.

When someone we love dies, we find ourselves trying to live with our new “normal”, …. as normal as it can possibly be to try and get through our everydays without them by our sides. Where they should be.

The question I am most often asked is, “is it normal? “ as in …..Is it normal to feel like I am going mad? Is it normal to feel like I can’t catch my breath ? Is it normal to have this pain like my heart is breaking ? Is it normal to wake up and imagine for a moment it didn’t happen ?

Sadly yes it is. For grief that is.

Before we lose someone we love , normal is just something we accept without noticing it. In grief that changes. Knowing the way we are feeling is normal can help even though it is the very last way we want to feel. Normalising the agonising symptoms of loss can somehow makes us feel less alone and less out of control.

I am sorry for your loss. And I am so sorry you are having to get used to the new normal that you wish was anything but ❤️❤️

I dont normally post things like this but I think it is absolutely imperetive that death, grief and the formalities of funerals, estates and inheritance are taught in secondary schools. I think it should be taught in line with s*x education and how life is created. After all, we cannot have one without the other. Please sign this petition and get it to the 10,000 signatures needed for it to be discussed in parliament.

Schools should be required to provide age-appropriate education to help children understand death as a part of life, as part of compulsory Relationships education. On average 111 children in the UK lose a parent every day.
