Day 30 and of my April commitment: I give you lil’ Miss Fox. Isn’t she cute?

April was Stress Awareness month and my work challenged us to commit to an activity that supported our . I chose to try to do at least 10 minutes of creativity each day and I really enjoyed it. I found the drawing, , painting and to be quite practices that really quieted my mind while I was doing them. And I only missed 2 or 3 days due to work travel and my twin’s birthday. I’m pretty pleased with that.

You’ve not seen the last of my imperfect creations, though. I will keep creating even if it can’t be everyday. 💚

Days 25-28 of my April commitment: I did some drawings, but messed them up an got frustrated so gave up. Then I made these little tulips out of post-its that I have been wanting to make. These were pretty simple and really fun to create. The idea came from a creator called . I really like the things she creates and her calm demeanor.

Yesterday we were out to dinner to celebrate my twin’s birthday and today I am in London for work so haven’t had a chance to make anything unfortunately.

Days 19-22 of my April commitment: Scroll through to see the start and finish of two different creative projects. I started the circles on my own and it was my kids that urged me to fill them with smiley faces. I decided I wanted to leave this one in black and white.

The second project is from a sticker art book that belongs to my daughter. I love whales so this had to be the one I completed. I love the mix of colors

Today is in official terms, but unofficially every day should be considered Earth Day.

Seemingly out of the blue, my daughter decided to create a collection of art all about respecting our planet and all living beings. Looking through each picture made me very proud. It was also a little bit heartbreaking.

It broke my heart, because when I was around the same age, I was drawing similar pictures and learning about ways to help the planet (thanks to a great science teacher I had). I thought to myself, “how are we still at a stage, all these decades later, where we are still pleading for people to have more consideration for our planet and all beings living on it??”

There is a quote that has always stuck with me, “we do not inherit the Earth from our ancestors; we borrow it from our children.” As a mother of three, this quote hits home more than ever. I am proud that my daughter cares so deeply about the environment and the animals. We should all aspire to be this way. I know I do.

We must live with more integrity, which means taking account of our social and environmental impact as individuals.

Here are a few few ways to make a difference:

1 Support companies with the B Corps certification; these are companies verified by B Lab to meet high standards of social and environmental performance, transparency, and accountability. On their website, you can find a list of B Corps companies or look for the label on the products you’re looking to use.

2 reduce, reuse, recycle. An oldie, but goodie. Whenever possible, reduce how much you consume and reuse items where you can. Many items, too, if possible. Don’t give into fast fashion perpetuated by online shops like Temu and SHEIN. Cheap items often come with a human and environmental price.

3 Reflect. Take some time today to get outside and appreciate nature. Put your feet in the grass, feel the breeze on your face, listen to the birds. Think about how you could be a better steward to the land and community around you. Take a moment to whisper “Thank you.”

May we all be better and kinder to ourselves, to each other, and to our planet. This is my wish today and every day. 💚

Day 18 of my April commitment: today’s creative moment was out in the garden. I enjoyed choosing the flowers and which ones would go together in the pots. Flowers make me happy. Plus, it was lovely to be out in some Spring sunshine. 🪻☀️🌸
