✨ Accessible Yoga Class - coming soon! ✨

Nikki is such an exciting addition to our timetable and her classes start in just 8 days - 3rd March at midday!

Here at Bay, we truly believe the practice of yoga is for everyone and that it looks and feels different for everyone depending on your lived experiences, body shape, size, anatomy, beliefs, philosophy, emotions, thoughts - it is unique and personal to each and everyone one of us.

It’s so important to strip away the negative stereotypes of yoga that it’s only for a certain ‘type of person’ because this couldn’t be further from the truth! At its very core - yoga is about union. The word ‘Yoga’ is derived from the Sanskrit word ‘Yuj’, signifying ‘to join’ or ‘to combine’ or ‘to unite’. Yoga is about meeting yourself exactly where you are. It includes breath control, simple meditation, and the practice of poses, which are always adaptable to suit you and your body, and are aimed at supporting health and relaxation.

Read Nikki’s truly inspiring story below:

Nikki has navigated brain trauma and recovered from 6 strokes. These life experiences have fuelled her passion for making yoga accessible and inclusive for anyone to partake in this healing practise, no matter what life brings their way.

Who is this class for?

EveryBODY. From Wheelchair users to those with Chronic illness, Stroke, Parkinson’s, anyone dealing with injury or rehab and can’t get to their usual practice but still wants some practice.

What to expect?

Nikki’s classes will be hosted online, giving anyone the chance to participate in the comfort of their own home.
Expect a series of gentle stretches, supportive cues, as well as breathwork and a relaxing yoga nidra / savasana to finish. 🙏🏼

How to book?

On our website under classes or if you’re already a member, you can book on our app.

How to join?

An online link will be sent via email after booking and anyone joining just needs to click this to start the class.

Students can join 10 mins before the class.

Any questions - please do get in touch with us! We always love to say hello and help answer any queries you may have :)

The quiet power of a slow practice 🐢

Gentle yoga is a slower, more accessible style of practice that prioritizes ease and softness over pushing and exertion.

Poses are held with support, breath is given more time, and the body is invited - never forced. It draws from restorative yoga, Hatha traditions, and it’s available to anyone, regardless of age or ability.

Gentle yoga adapts to you, not the other way around. Whether you’re recovering from injury, managing chronic pain, navigating fatigue, or simply feeling stiff from a desk job, the practice offers a way in. Props like bolsters, blocks, and blankets do the heavy lifting (literally), allowing you to experience the shape of a pose without strain.

Gentle yoga works on the nervous system. Slow movement paired with conscious breathing sends a signal to the body that it is safe. This can reduce baseline cortisol levels, ease anxiety, improve sleep quality, and even support immune function. The benefits aren’t just felt in the moment - they grow overtime. 🌿

Sign up to our 6 week Gentle Yoga Course and experience the quiet power of a gentle practice. ✨

Investment: £90 for 6 week block (£15 per class)

Myth-busting: Meditation Edition ✨

Have you ever met someone who meditates? They are often incredibly good listeners and able to give you their attention in a way that makes you feel truly heard.

The biggest shift over the past few years has been our ability to be present. With a noisy world, and information overload it’s easy to feel pulled in so many directions.

Meditation is a scientific practise that is proven to help with focus, stress, and an ability to be more present.

Meditation in that way, you could argue - is a type of listening. Listening to yourself, your mind, your body, your breath, and observing how you feel. The very practise of this overtime helps you to not only listen to yourself better, but your loved ones too.

Some common myths we hear from time to time that we wanted to reassure you on 💚

👀 “I get easily distracted so I can’t meditate.”

✅ To think lots of things at once and get distracted is simply to be human - and it is not true that you need to have an “empty” or “quiet” mind to meditate, often it is the opposite that draws us to meditation, as it can help soften a busy mind.

🗣️ “I can’t quieten my mind, it’s always racing, so I just won’t be any good at it.”

✅ Meditation is never about being “good” - it is a non-judgemental practise about accepting the mind as it is, and noticing what floats in and out, whilst gently drawing your attention back to your breathe and your body. It is ok if your inner critic pipes up, it’s all about noticing this and guiding yourself back to the present moment.

🧘🏼‍♀️ “I find it too uncomfortable to sit down and meditate in a seated crossed legged position.”

✅ The practise of meditation needs to suit you and your body, it is ok to lie down, or get into any comfortable position that feels good for you. Everybody has a different anatomy and what works for some might not work for you so it’s always important to tune into what works for you.

If any of this speaks to you Kate will be running a 6 week meditation course starting tonight / drop in classes also available to book via our app / website.

✨ Beginners Pilates Course re-starting soon! ✨

6 week course, Tuesdays, 17th Feb - March 24th 12.00pm-13.00pm

Are you someone who has never tried Pilates but are hearing lots of people around you talking about the benefits?

Our Beginners Pilates Course is designed for those who:

- Have little or no experience of Pilates and want to learn the foundations / the proper technique
- Want to feel stronger, more toned, and more mobile when moving day-to-day
- Are recovering from injury / in rehab and have been told by your physio / GP that Pilates will help with pain management and regaining strength
- Are looking for an hour of ‘me-time’ a week
- Have a busy / stressful work schedule and would enjoy a change of scenery beyond your screen

What to expect?

Pilates is a low-impact type of exercise suitable for all ages and fitness levels. It is designed to strengthen the body and was originally developed for rehabilitation. It also helps improve alignment, posture, and beyond the physical effects is also great for your mental wellbeing. Whilst you’re likely to feel an immediate benefit to stress levels, physical and noticeable results often appear within 6-8 weeks of consistent regular practice, which is why we recommend signing up for a course / block.

What to bring?

Feel free to bring your own mat but Bay provide mats and all props needed for class

What do I need to wear?

Comfortable clothing, easy to stretch and move around in

✨ Teacher Spotlight ✨

This week’s spotlight is on Silvia Eccel - our Yin and Restorative Yoga teacher 🕯️

Silvi has a background in hospitality and hotel management but when she decided to have a family, she found her path to Yoga Teaching qualifying in London and Bali. Silvi specialises in Yin / Restorative Yoga and we are truly lucky to have her teaching three classes a week at Bay.

Read more about Silvi’s background and approach below:

“I have been practicing Yoga for many years, and my longstanding passion for it has motivated me to become a Yoga teacher in 2022. I am also a massage therapist with over 15 years’ experience within the industry. This in-depth knowledge of how the body works influences my teaching style. I teach functionally, meaning that I consider the skeletal differences of each individual student, moving away from “one size fits all” instructions and emphasising what they feel rather than how they look in the pose. I have found a special connection to Yin Yoga, where the poses are held for a longer time as well as giving you the space and quietness to go within yourself, therefore benefiting the body and mind. I feel privileged to hold space for my students to have this connection and discovery of themselves.”

Silvi’s classes at Bay:

✨ Mondays Yin Yoga & Sound 7:15pm
✨ Tuesdays Yin Yoga 10:30am
✨ Wednesdays Restorative Yoga 7:35pm

If you like the sound of a slower paced class and feel in need of some deep rest and relaxation Silvi’s classes are for you. Book via our app/website :)

Hear from Sharon! One of our regular members ☺️

Sharon is definitely one making the most of her membership at Bay and we are here for it! 🙌🏼

We loved hearing about her first impressions of Bay and to be described as her ‘happy place’ has absolutely made our day! 🌞

One of the main reasons we started our member chat series is we don’t just want you to take our word for it. We love all feedback (all kinds) so please do continue to share with us what you love, and things you’d like to see in the future. 🌅

Big thanks to Sharon for sharing her views and watch this space for more member chats coming soon! ✨
