Postnatal physiotherapy is essential for new mothers as it aids in the recovery and rehabilitation process after childbirth. One of the primary reasons is to help repair and strengthen the pelvic floor muscles, which often become weakened during pregnancy and delivery. Strengthening these muscles can prevent urinary incontinence and support pelvic organ health. Additionally, postnatal physio can address diastasis recti, a separation of the abdominal muscles common after pregnancy, by guiding mothers through specific exercises to restore core stability. It also helps improve posture, alleviate back pain, and manage discomfort resulting from the physical demands of caring for a newborn. It can help with recovery after Caesarean delivery and ease scar restrictions.

We are the experts in post natal recovery so whether you just want to wake up without back pain or start trainig for a HYROX then we can help

One of my favourite sayings when talking about prolapse, va**nal atrophy and pain conditions of the ge***al area - conditions that make women feel bothersome or pain sensation in that area

Until you experience pain in the ge***als, this area doesn't really tell you much - it shouldn't be giving you any sensations (unless you want it to 😜)

So if your private areas are shouting at you - go seek help from a GP or Pelvic Health Physio

This is such a sad statistic!!

There are many reason why women don't seek help for pelvic health conditions and include

👉 a belief that pelvic health issues are normal for women
👉 a belief that the only option is surgery
👉 Lack of knowledge that Pelvic Health Physiotherapy can help

A pelvic organ prolapse is a common female condition

It describes a pelvic organ (bladder, womb or re**um) that is sitting in a different position.

MANY women have one and it gives no symptoms at all

For those that have symptoms, it can cause
- a va**nal dragging/ heaviness feeling
- a feeling of a bulge in the va**na
- difficulty fully emptying the bladder
- difficulty emptying the bowel
- can be associated with bladder urgency
- can co exist with stress urinary incontinence
- can contribute to lower back pain

So why might the va**na and or v***a hurt - most of the time this can be due to reduced estrogen levels and most common in breast feeding women, peri and post menopausal women. Talking to your GP about va**nal estogen cream for many women will make a huge difference. Many women will use va**nal moisturizers such as (one of our favourites)

Its important to rule out STI's, v***al cancer, thrush, bacterial vaginosis and problematic cysts that can cause pain too
