What is Reiki and what does it do?
I found the background of the reiki story really interesting, so I’ve tried to shorten it a bit to give everyone an idea of how reiki came to be.
Reiki was developed fairly recently, in the early 1900s by Dr Usui, a university professor in Kyoto, Japan. He began a lifelong quest to discover long lost healing methods thought to have been used by Jesus and the Buddha. He was guided to climb the holy mountain of Mount Kurama where he was then guided to meditate and fast on the mountain for 21 days. It was here that he would receive enlightenment and spiritual clarity for his quest in the form of a bright light hitting him in the third eye and a deliverance of symbols and the formula of how to use universal life force energy. On leaving the mountain he was able to heal using energy that came from his hands, he spent 7 years in the slums beside the mountain healing the poor following his mission.
He passed on his methods to 16 others, using attunements to empower them. This included Dr Hayashi, who would pass this to Madam Takata, who then brought this method of healing into the western world.
Reiki works by placing hands on the main energy points of the body, after the process of attunement the reiki practitioner can ‘flow’ life force energy to the recipient creating a deeply relaxed, calm and balanced feeling. Working with the idea that emotional blockages cause physical ailments, the unblocking and healing of these emotional centres can help alleviate issues such as-
Stress
Anxiety
Insomnia
OCD
Depression
Pain
Hormone imbalances
Toxic symptoms
Fatigue
Trauma & grief
Immune dysfunction
High blood pressure
Not only can Reiki help to alleviate these symptoms but it can also help to promote positive thought patterns and relaxation which can dramatically improve how you feel about yourself and your life!
All treatments offered incorporate Reiki to enable a deeper level of healing. My aim is to create an intensely relaxing and positive experience that will heal on a soul, emotional and physical level.
