Today this was not said and I was commended for a very good overall performance. When it comes to lifting heavy vs light weight, one thing needs to be made certain, you should do both. Both lighter and heavier weights at their different rep ranges, have benefits that the other doesn’t.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
For example, low rep heavy work will lead to an increase in overall muscular strength, whereas, high rep lighter work has a great place for adding volume to lagging body parts, helping them to grow.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Low rep training puts a heavy emphasis on technique, which can often be compromised in higher rep sets. However, due to the high intensities of low rep training, there may be a higher risk of injury & greater intra and post workout recovery times.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Both rep ranges can also be beneficial towards injury rehab. However, high rep ranges offer a more ideal risk to reward ratio. High rep endurance training also helps to cause hypertrophy through metabolic damage and limits actual muscle damage, which is ideal during recovery⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
At the end of the day, both heavy and lighter weights can lead to muscle growth and increases in strength. The goal is to utilise both in your fitness journey.

Move More Eat Less

Hey and welcome to my Fitness and Nutrition blog where I hope to educate and inspire people to get off their asses, drag them away from food / Netflix binges and introduce them into the wonderful world of maintaining a healthy lifestyle…

I know what it’s like to struggle with weight (former fat boy at 19.5 stone) and even the lack of ability to move, in fact I’m classified disabled due to a degenerative condition from birth which means I have both ankles fused. However, this has not stopped me from competitively playing rugby, boxing and cycling 100’s of miles around the UK.

I’m going to share with you the biggest secrets from the fitness and nutrition industry, starting with this “EAT LESS AND MOVE MORE”, it’s a simple as that… However, I’m going to show the correct things to eat and the fun ways to move to ensure that you stick to plan.

I also don’t want to give you false promises, there is no magic wand, pill or silver bullet. It’s all in your WHY, your MINDSET and HARD WORK. I can’t teach that, you’ve got to bring that to the table yourself.
