This week (7-13 July 2025) is a campaign by Alcohol Change UK to raise awareness of alcohol harm, and this year the focus is all about ‘alcohol and work’.
Whether it’s long hours, stress, blurred lines between work and home, or peer pressure to drink alcohol at workplace socials, there are many ways work and alcohol are linked.

This , Alcohol Change UK are opening the conversation about the relationship between alcohol and work and how making changes to our drinking, even a little, can make a big difference to improving our health, productivity and happiness.

Cervical cancer is the most common form of cancer in women under 35 with two women in the UK per day dying from the disease. Regular cervical screening appointments can prevent up to 75% of instances of cervical cancer, saving 5000 lives per year.

Cervical Screening Awareness Week is an annual campaign aimed at educating and empowering individuals about the significance of attending cervical screening. The week encourages women and people with a cervix to prioritise their cervical health and attend routine screenings as recommended by healthcare professionals. It serves to raise awareness about the role of cervical screenings in preventing cervical cancer and promoting early detection and treatment.

Cervical Screening (which used to be called a smear test) is a free NHS health test that is offered to women and all people with a cervix between the ages of 25 to 64. It helps prevent cervical cancer by checking for human papillomavirus (HPV) which can be passed on through sexual contact.

The Bexley Wellbeing Partnership (BWP) is delighted to announce a South Asian Health and Wellbeing Fair on Tuesday 29th July from 11am to 3pm to mark South Asian Heritage Month.
The event will take place the Bexley Civic Offices, 2 Watling Street, Bexley DA6 7AT.
The South Asian Health and Wellbeing Fair has been organised to celebrate South Asian culture and to also inform residents of support services that exist across the borough.
The day will provide an opportunity for residents to speak to GPs, other health professionals and partner organisations with questions about their own health and wellbeing. We are also planning on holding a special panel discussion with GPs and faith group leaders discussing ways to live healthier lives. The aim of the day is to understand how we can work better with South Asian residents living across Bexley.
Entertainment and activities will also take place throughout the day.

National HIV Testing Week 10-16 February is fast approaching. We will be asking Bexley primary care colleagues to take part in South East London 'Opt In' approach, more information about the iTest campaign and free resources can be found here: HPE Resource Centre - https://hperesources.org.uk/

National HIV Testing Week is an important initiative that focuses on increasing HIV awareness and testing rates across the United Kingdom. It encourages people to get tested for HIV, especially those who may be at higher risk of infection. The campaign aims to normalize HIV testing, promote early diagnosis, and provide information about HIV prevention and treatment options.

This week serves as a reminder of the importance of knowing one’s HIV status, as early detection and access to treatment can significantly improve a person’s quality of life and reduce the transmission of the virus.
