Mike Deves, trustee of Bromley Lions Club - CIO attended our recent Branch Meeting and presented our Branch Secretary, Carol Battle, with a cheque for £1000 - the proceeds of a charity quiz held in May which was run in aid of the Bromley & District Parkinson's Group.

I think you can tell from the smiling faces how much it means to us to face their support.

Carol said, "We would like to extend a huge thank you to the Bromley Lions Club for their generous donation which will enable us to continue to provide events and activities for our members."

Thank you, times a thousand! 🎉

Wow! What a scorcher and what a great time we had at Biggin Hill Carnival this weekend.

Thank you so much to all the organisers, and to Cllr Melanie Stevens for the invite. This is such a popular event for the people of Biggin Hill and further afield and we were so pleased to be able to chat to so many people in the community about the work we do as the local branch of Parkinson's UK.

See you again next year!

We've signed the Parky Charter - have you?

"A lot has changed since we launched the petition last year, not least the Government. This is why we're relaunching the Parky Charter and have created a new petition for a new year. It's official this time!

Registered with the Petition's Committee, we need 100,000 signatures in order to trigger a debate in Parliament. It's hugely ambitious we know, but we have high hopes that we will make real progress. Especially after the Health Secretary, Wes Streeting, came on the podcast last series and promised his support. Nevertheless we need to keep up the pressure and are asking you to sign and share it.

If every listener shared the petition five times and each of those five people would sign and share, we might get there rather quickly!

We know it's a huge pain, but once you've signed the petition we would be grateful if you could let us know you've signed it and we can keep you up to date with our plans.

Thank you for supporting the Parky Charter.

What a night we had! Thank you to The Kentones and Velvet Harmony for such an entertaining evening packed with good tunes; Azelia Hall was packed to the rafters. A total of £1395 was raised for Parkinson's UK Bromley and District Branch which is absolutely fantastic.

Carol Battle, Branch Secretary said "The evening was a huge success; well attended and the choruses provided excellent entertainment. We raised the amazing sum of £1395 and would like to thank all the singers for giving up their time and raising such a large amount for our charity."

We are very much looking forward to our upcoming musical evening and summer Garden Party.

*Does anyone have some time to get some posters out into their local communities, at local shops, restaurants, cafes, community spaces etc?* We can pop some copies in the post to you.

It would be very helpful to get even more people to know about the Branch and the work we do to support people living with Parkinson's in the Bromley area.

Do drop us a message if you can help.

James Parkinson is most famous for recognising Parkinson's as a medical condition. He was a pioneer not only in medicine, but also in his scientific and political interests.

The son of an apothecary and surgeon, James Parkinson was born on 11 April 1755. This is why 11 April is now World Parkinson's Day, a day to shine a spotlight on Parkinson’s and our community.

This World Parkinson’s Day we’re raising awareness of our support services. If you or a loved one needs help or support, we're here.

To contact the branch email bromleyparkinsonsbranch@gmail.com or call 07553 082148, to find out more about the support and services we offer across Bromley and District.

For Parkinson's UK call their helpline, 0808 800 0303, or visit https://prksn.uk/4le0NLq.

Because, until we find a cure, there’s Parkinson’s UK.
