💙A belated thank you to everyone who supported World Parkinson's Day events on Saturday 11th April!

It was fabulous to meet so many new people in Bromley town centre and we loved our guest speakers at the Branch meeting, as well as spotting all our members wearing something blue!

Thanks to the commitment of our volunteers, tutors, local supporters and generous fundraisers, we can offer friendship, support and practical help to people living with Parkinson’s in the Bromley area, and it was wonderful to be able to celebrate that with you all! 💙

🧪 Interesting Finding From UCL Research Team

A new study by scientists at University College London suggests Parkinson’s may start in the gut — and that understanding how immune cells help toxic proteins travel from the gut to the brain could open the door to earlier ways to spot and manage the condition.

This kind of work helps researchers think about how we might intervene long before motor symptoms begin — and that means more possibilities for the future.

New research reveals how Parkinson’s spreads from the gut to the brain, with the help of immune cells – offering a new potential therapeutic strategy – in a study in mice led by scientists at the UK Dementia Research Institute at UCL.

The team at Movers and Shakers have just released a new episode exploring the science behind exercise and Parkinson’s.

In this episode, they look at:
• What the research says about exercise and symptom management
• Why movement matters at every stage
• How people with Parkinson’s are using exercise in everyday life

New Event Idea – You're Feedback Needed!📱💻

We’re thinking of running a free, hands-on session to help members learn how the latest features on mobile phones, iPads, and laptops can make everyday life easier.
The session would be run by AbilityNet.

Please let us know if you’d be interested in attending — we need 10 or more people to make the event happen.

Comment, like, or respond to the event to show your interest 👍

🎵 A HUGE Thank You to The Kentones! 🎵

We are absolutely thrilled to announce that The Kentones raised an incredible £1,232 for Parkinson's UK Bromley and District Branch through their two wonderful December singing events! 🎶💜

The Kentones performed beautifully at The Glades, Bromley and Black Horse Locksbottom, spreading festive cheer while raising vital funds and awareness for our local Parkinson's community.

We're deeply honoured to have been chosen as their charity. Their support means the world to us and helps us continue providing essential services and support to people living with Parkinson's across Bromley and District.

A special thank you also goes to The Glades and The Black Horse for so generously hosting these events and helping us raise our profile in the local area.

To The Kentones, the venues, and everyone who donated – your kindness and generosity will make a real difference to local people living with Parkinson's. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts! 💙
