✨ Feeding issues ✨
This little one was referred to me by a lactation consultant at around 10 weeks after having difficulties with latching, making breastfeeding a challenge.
On presentation, we found he had a very high palate, a weak suck, a very strong gag reflux, restrictions in his upper neck and some cranial strains. He also had a significant head lag. Visually his head had a slightly elongated look to it.
Symptomatically, this baby disliked laying on the back of his head, so would turn his head to one to side avoid it. He also was unable to create a strong latch, constantly slipping back. He was also not able to keep up with the flow of milk so had to constantly be taken on and off the breast.
Since we begun with his care, we have seen so many improvements. His head lag is gone (now able to fully lift his head), he no longer dislikes pressure on the back of his head, he can now form a strong latch and we’ve seen visual improvements in the cranial strains he had on presentation.
Treatment involved addressing the restriction in his upper neck, lots of cranial work and addressing any tension in his sacrum. All methods used on babies are very gentle 👐🏼
