1-1 and group courses, bespoke to you and your family's needs. Breastfeeding education:
Group and 1-1 sessions covering positioning and attachment, feeding cues, challenges, responsive feeding, the ways to tell it's going well and when/where to get support. Breastfeeding support:
1-1 support across the South Birmingham area (face to face) or anywhere with a data connection via zoom. Relaxation Sessions:
1-1 and small group sessions that explore relaxation techniques, including guided meditation, massage and relaxation. Postnatal support:
Family (Mother) led support in the postnatal period - providing an extra pair of hands or a space to debrief; postnatal support can help to look after you physically and emotionally. Postnatal groups launching soon:

About me:
I’m Mikayla (she/her), I live in South Birmingham with my energetic toddler, and husband, along with 2 cats named after Buffy and Star Wars characters. I feel called to support new families of all types, to empower them to make informed decisions that are most appropriate for their family set up. I coordinate the local Cloth Nappy Library, and outside of my perinatal practice, I am an enthusiastic sewer, and have discovered bread baking recently, with my toddler loving to help! Qualifications:
Birth and Beyond Foundation degree
I trained with the University of Worcester and NCT to become a dual qualified practitioner - Antenatal Practitioner and Breastfeeding Counsellor. This is the only university-accredited qualification in parent education in the UK. CCLD Level 3
I am also a qualified nursery nurse, and spent some time working as a SEN support assistant using BSL (British Sign Language).

Admin day...OH has both small humans so I'm doing admin for everything and NCT work, and of course Juno stuff too.
Yes I've also sent a LOT of reels to friends when I'm getting distracted! And let's not talk about the biscuits...

Smiles today: Squeezing some admin time into the weekend; feeling hungry and being reminded of a super study day yesterday.
We looked at more complex birth - induction, caesarean birth, assisted birth, updated guidance and different ways to facilitate the topics.
I really like study days 😊 - great way of updating/affirming knowledge with excellent folk, and looking at how to make that info accessible and appropriately shared with parents.

After seeing yet another insta post suggesting you need a perfect diet when you're breastfeeding, I call BS.
Yes, absolutely, we know our bodies work well on a nutritious foods. But we also know our bodies can cope pretty well on a fairly crappy diet at times.
When you're breastfeeding it's a really common time to grab quick foods, and let's face it...tasty comfort foods too. And you know what? It's fine 🤷‍♀️
There's SO much pressure on us as parents, and so many barriers put in our way when we're breastfeeding. Please don't let the perfect diet be a barrier for you.
Try and eat nutritiously if you can and want to.
But if you want cake, eat the damn cake. Nothing awful is going to happen.
