Finding out AS MUCH AS YOU POSSIBLY CAN about who your dream guest is, what they like doing/don’t like doing, what their hobbies are, what their financial situation is, what commitments they have etc etc is THE WAY to make sure your Retreat is full.

By knowing everything about your dream Retreat guest, you’ll be able to create Retreats & events that are EXACTLY what they want and need. It will also make things soooooo much easier for you, in terms of marketing and advertising your Retreats, because you’ll be super clear on who it’s for, where they spend their time online and how to reach them.

It’s how I have been successfully selling out my Retreats for the last 8 years!

When is the best time to start planning your Retreats for the following year?

Because believe it or not, there is a best time which will get you SOLD OUT!

So, WHEN is the right time?

Well this will really depend on your dream clients, so if you’ve done the foundational work on this, you’ll know every little detail about them! But a few things to think about:

📆 Do they need to book annual leave from their job?

👶 Do they need to schedule in childcare?

💰 Do they need plenty of time to save up money/spread the cost?

For me, I tend to advertise my weekend Retreats 10-12 months in advance. This gives my clients plenty of time to get all their commitments sorted and plenty of time to work out their finances.

Whoop! This September I’ll be celebrating hosting Retreats for 8 years and 10 years running my Yoga business! 🥳

I don’t think retreat leader me 8 years ago could have imagined finishing a Retreat feeling AMAZING (not crying her eyes out 😭), or running multiple sell out Retreats every year, or even something as simple as getting a good night’s sleep in the run up to a Retreat!

I’ve come so far from the nervous wreck I was 8 years ago, wondering if people would book, wondering how to sell, wondering if I was good enough to be a host…to now confidently booking, planning and leading Retreats on repeat!

I’m proof that you DON’T need a huge following to sell out your Retreats, you just need to be super clear on why you’re doing them, who you’re serving and consistently show up for those people. All the other stuff like sales & marketing can be learned, even if (like me) you have zero sales & marketing experience!

If you’re at the start of your Retreat journey and are feeling overwhelmed, unworthy and actually a little bit lost with it all, my advice is to dig deep, build strong foundations & relationships first and once those foundations are in place, start planning your Retreats.

Some days I feel like I’ve cracked the code when it comes to selling out profitable Retreats! But this isn’t a secret that I want to keep all to myself self, and I think Yoga Teachers all over the world need to know…so here goes!

Here are my 5 top tips to advertise your Retreats:

🙌🏼 Start with your mailing list - these people know and love you & what you do!

🙌🏼 After you have advertised your Retreat to your mailing list, start posting about it on social media. Use a mix of images, reels, lives and stories to reach your dream guests.

🙌🏼 Get people to tell their friends about your Retreats! You could offer an incentive if they get someone to sign up. Word of mouth is INVALUABLE! It’s the best kind of advertising for your Retreat!

🙌🏼 Use Retreat advertising groups & pages to get your event in front of lots of interested eyes.

🙌🏼 Have a marketing & content plan, so you have an idea of what & when you’re going to post for maximum impact!
