🌟 🎙 It was such a pleasure to join Anna on her Writing with Purpose podcast! I talked about my transition from years of yo-yo dieting to embracing intuitive eating, which was both reflective and empowering 💬.

I loved diving into topics like the hunger scale, building a positive relationship with food and trusting our bodies ♥️.

A huge thank you to Anna for having me and allowing me to share my journey and how I help others to find food freedom too 🤗💕.

✨ Letting go of control this festive season 🎄

The holiday season can be full of delicious foods and social meals, a great time to lean into intuitive eating. Instead of trying to control everything you eat, why not let your body lead the way and practice using the hunger scale (whatever you’re eating!)

Reach out anytime if you’d like some support during the festive season - send me a message or comment below and I'd be happy to help 🤗.

Intuitive Eating vs. Intermittent Fasting: Key Differences! 🌱⏰

From my own experience, and working with clients, people often feel some initial benefits with intermittent fasting, but find it hard to maintain long-term. Shifting to eating more intuitively helps to relax around food, creating a balanced and sustainable approach - no timer needed! 🕊️

If you are wondering what is difference between intuitive eating and intermittent fasting, here are 3 key points

1️⃣ Hunger Cues
Intuitive Eating: Eat in response to your natural hunger, fullness and satisfaction cues. 🍽️
Intermittent Fasting: Follows set meal windows, instead of eating in response to your natural cues. ⏰

2️⃣ Food Freedom
Intuitive Eating: No rigid rules, prioritises listening to your body. ❤️
Intermittent Fasting: Set eating times, which may feel restrictive. ⏳

3️⃣ Flexibility
Intuitive Eating: Adapts to changing daily needs and routines. 🌿
Intermittent Fasting: Structure may feel limiting. 🕰️

I’m curious to know... do you prefer structure or listening to your body’s cues? I’d love to hear about your experience, comment below or send me a message! 💬👇

👋 Does this sound familiar to you? If it does, hopefully you’ll find this helpful, to know why it's not the best move if you're aiming to eat intuitively, reduce sugar cravings and have a more balanced approach to food and eating:

1️⃣ Ignoring natural hunger cues ⏰ – Our bodies are designed to signal when they need fuel. Ignoring these cues can disrupt trust in those signals and lead to feeling out of sync with our body’s natural needs.

2️⃣ Energy dips 🔋 – Fuelling regularly keeps your energy steady and sugar levels balanced. Skipping snacks when you’re peckish, may cause a slump in focus and mood later on in the day.

3️⃣ Intense cravings later 🍫 – Waiting too long to eat can increase cravings, often leading to overeating later on. It’s very common to judge ourselves for this, but remembering that this is a natural response from our bodies, when it senses it’s being deprived of fuel, can be really helpful 🤗.

Have you tried listening and responding to your natural hunger cues instead? It can make a world of difference! 💫

You know where I am if you have any questions or would like support on this 🥰.

👋 I wanted to talk about why eating when you’re not physically hungry can be a powerful act of self-care and here's why...👇

Imagine you’ve got a long meeting coming up, or dinner won’t be served until late - choosing to eat a nourishing snack before you feel hungry can prevent you from feeling drained or irritable later on 🥱.

In these situations, you can honour your body’s needs and set yourself up for success 🙌🏻, rather than waiting until you’re starving. Waiting until you've passed a comfortable hunger level, can encourage your body to send out strong urges (which would be a very normal response) to eat quickly and more than you might need, when you finally do get to eat.

I wanted to touch on this as I often get asked, when using the hunger scale, if it's okay to eat when I’m not physically hungry.

Hope you've found these examples helpful!

🧡Embracing your unique body shape can be a game-changer for self-love, body confidence, and food freedom 🙌. Here are 5 ways to help you celebrate your natural, unique shape:

1️⃣ Dress for joy – Try choosing outfits that make you feel empowered and joyful, highlighting what you love about your body 👗.

2️⃣ Shift focus to function – Your body is a powerhouse! Think of everything it does - walking, hugging, dancing (and so much more!). Aim to celebrate its strength and abilities over appearance 🏃‍♀️.

3️⃣ Avoid comparison – Constantly comparing yourself to others can steal your joy. Embrace the idea that beauty comes in countless forms and your shape is one of them 🤗.

4️⃣ Celebrate your unique shape – Every body has its own beauty. Instead of wishing for a different shape, focus on what makes yours special. Supporting your uniqueness boosts confidence and self-love 🎊.

5️⃣ Move for fun – Exercise for enjoyment, never punishment. Whether dancing, hiking or lifting weights at the gym, find activities that make you feel good and energized, rather than focusing on how they could make you look 🤸🏾‍♀.

You absolutely deserve to love your body just as it is 💛

✨ This is something I talk to my clients about a lot, especially when it comes to weight loss goals. I encourage them to shift their focus away from a specific number on the scale and instead, tune into how the changes they’re making feel in their body. Focusing on the scale can play havoc with motivation, while focusing on feeling good is far more consistent💛.

So, how do you know if you’re at your natural weight? Here are a few signs:

🥰 You feel comfortable with normal fluctuations
💪 You feel energized and strong
🥗 You eat based on hunger and fullness cues
⚖️ Your weight stays stable without much effort
💛 You feel comfortable in your body, free from food obsession
🧘‍♀️ You enjoy exercise and move for fun, not punishment

Just a little reminder, your natural weight is where your body thrives and where it truly wants to be ❤️.
