We're looking for a part-time Receptionist, to work at YMCA West Bromwich on Carters Green. You'll spend your time answering the phones, helping customers with their queries and managing office and meeting room bookings. Early years education is facing the highest demand in years, as children aged 9 months and above will receive 30 funded hours of childcare from September 2025.

Adding to the pressure of an already understaffed workforce, the number of early years qualifications are in decline, painting a bleak picture for the future of childcare.

Without the qualified staff to be able to deliver on increased demand, at best childcare risks becoming de-professionalised. At worst, it will be impossible for providers to deliver the funded hours offered by the Government to an adequate standard, with the childcare places promised not being available to parents.

The Government must take action to boost existing staff and invest in the workforce of the future.
