What on earth is PRP? 🤔💉🩸

PRP is platelet rich plasma. Put simply, it’s your body’s own blood platelets, taken out of your blood, centrifuged and re-injected back into your body, normally towards areas that need a little extra tlc.

In the above clip, our PRP specialist Nusra is using PRP to treat hair loss and patchiness but PRP can also be used to treat a range of other issues including: MSK injuries, joint pain, arthritis, vaginal dryness, erectile dysfunction and reduced sensitivity.

How can PRP be effective in treating different areas of the body you may ask 🤔
Well, the versatility of PRP is due to the platelets themselves.

Blood platelets are brilliant because they:

Clot blood at the sight of an injury.
Contain growth factors (a type of protein) that promote healing and tissue regeneration.
Promote inflammation (This may sound bad but increased blood flow to an injury helps it to heal faster).

Meaning they can help to heal and regenerate tissue in many areas of the body.

If you’re curious about how PRP treatments could help you, then feel free to DM us or check out our website for more information - the link is in our bio 😁

What if your body’s best performance plan was written in your DNA? 🧬

As an athlete, clinician and coach, Sarah has always been committed to optimising my health and performance. She’s used every nutrition strategy in the book, tracked every metric and refined every aspect of her training.

But the one thing that gave her the most clarity? A DNA blood test.

DNA holds so much information about our bodies: how we metabolise nutrients, respond to training, recover, regulate blood sugars, manage inflammation and process different foods.

As Sarah writes in her blog, small changes in her training plan in alignment with her DNA results had a huge impact on her performance and overall health. You can read more about Sarah's results on our website.

If you’ve ever been curious about what your DNA can tell you about your health, you can find out more about our blood profile testing through the link in our bio.

Have you been feeling overwhelmed? The answer might be simpler than you think🤔

In her latest blog, Dr Kallan explains how so much of our stress comes from holding onto the past or worrying about what’s next.

She explains why focusing on what you can control is the key to reducing overwhelm and building a calmer and healthier mind.

Caitlin has been a part of our team for a little while now, but we thought that she deserved a proper introduction...

Caitlin is our admin manager and marketing wizard, making sure everything runs smoothly behind the scenes and that everyone (both patients and doctors) has the best experience possible. 💪

Although she does not have a clinical background, Caitlin is very passionate about health and wellness. She has a special interest in yoga, meditation and energy and runs her own energy activation classes right here in Birmingham. 🧘‍♀️

She believes that working on our inner selves, our thoughts, beliefs and unconscious emotions, has a vital impact on our lives and is just as important as looking after physical health. Which is something we also believe in at CCC. 😌

When she’s not working wonders behind a screen 💻, you can find her:

Spending time with pets 🐈‍⬛

Running Kundalini activation classes✨

Going for runs in the sunshine 🏃‍♀️

Practicing meditation🧘‍♀️

We are very grateful to have her as part of the team, and are excited that she is joining us on our missing in bringing better healthcare to Birmingham.

Sarah isn’t your everyday nurse… She’s a personal trainer and sports massage therapist too 💪💆‍♀️

Having a regular sports massage provides a range of health benefits including:

⚫️ Injury Prevention: Sports massage can help identify and alleviate muscle tightness, imbalances, and potential issues before they develop into more serious injuries.

⚫️ Enhanced Recovery: After intense physical activity or competition, sports massage aids in the recovery process by promoting blood circulation, reducing muscle soreness, and helping to clear lactic acid build-up. This can lead to faster recovery and improved performance.

⚫️ Improved Performance: Many athletes use sports massage as part of their training regimen to enhance performance. The techniques used in sports massage can improve muscle function, increase range of motion, and optimise overall body mechanics, allowing athletes to perform at their best.

⚫️ Pain Relief: Sports massage can effectively alleviate muscle tension and pain, whether from overuse, strain, or chronic conditions. Techniques such as deep tissue massage can target specific areas of discomfort, providing relief and promoting relaxation.

⚫️ Mental Relaxation: Beyond the physical benefits, sports massage can also have psychological advantages. The process can help reduce stress and anxiety, promote a sense of well-being, and improve focus and mental clarity.

Sarah conducts sports massages at her clinic space over in Coventry - DM us or email us at hello@completeclincialcare.co.uk if you’d like to know more.

Happy Monday! ☀️🌳

We hope you’ve all been enjoying the bank holiday - Dr Nazir certainly has. Here are some of the things he has been pondering whilst soaking up the sunny weather:

I have so much gratitude for weekends like these. They are a well-deserved time to pause, enjoy moments with family and friends, and recharge. In the busy pace of everyday life, these moments matter more than we often realise. They are also a gentle reminder that looking after your health should sit alongside everything else we prioritise.

For me, this means slowing down, enjoying a good coffee (with its own recognised health benefits when taken in moderation), taking time to relax, or even going on a peaceful Sunday afternoon drive to reset and reflect.

In my recent clinics at Complete Clinical Care, I have been particularly struck by the value of time. Time to listen properly. Time to understand context. Time to go beyond numbers on a report.

I’ve been spending more time walking through blood test results in detail, not just what they show, but what they mean for the individual sitting in front of me. Because the reality is, every person is different. Not every result falls neatly within a “normal” range, and that doesn't mean that something is wrong.

Where there are abnormalities, the most important part is understanding why. Through open and honest conversations, without judgement, we are able to explore possible causes and agree on a treatment plan — whether that is monitoring, lifestyle change, or treatment.

This is the part of medicine I value most. Creating a space where people feel comfortable to ask questions, understand their health, and make informed decisions.

If you are having tests done, you have already taken an important first step in wanting to better understand your health and wellbeing. The next step is ensuring those results are explained clearly, promptly, and in a way that makes sense to you — especially when something is outside the expected range.

Take care of yourselves this Easter holiday, your health deserves your time. ☕️🐰

Happy Easter from all of us at Complete Clinical Care!! 🐰🌷

We know you’ll all be enjoying lots of chocolate over the next couple of days and a few of Dr Kallan’s patients have been asking about the best ways to eat chocolate around easter so we thought it would be great to share a few of her tips with you all:

Start with real food first: 🥑🥕🍗
Protein +fibre (e.g chicken and veggies) Help slow sugar absorption.

Save chocolate for after your meal: 🥘 🍫
Eating sweet treats after a meal can reduce glucose spikes.

Take a quick walk:🚶 🌳
Even a 10-minute walk after eating helps your body manage blood sugar better

If you have a choice - go for dark chocolate:🍫 ☑️
It’s lower in sugar, rich in flavour and very satisfying.

Let us know in the comments if you tried any of these tips out!
