Yesterday’s Supreme Court ruling will feel heavy for many of us - especially the trans community.

The mental health toll of public debate, constant scrutiny in the media, and legal decisions like this is profound. For trans people, this isn’t just political or legal. It’s personal. It’s exhausting.

We know some of you are struggling right now, but know this: regardless of this ruling, we’ll keep providing compassionate, tailored mental health support and fighting for the rights of everyone with a mental health problem.

You are safe here. We see you. We stand with you.

If you need support, here are some places you can go:

🔹 Switchboard LGBT - 0800 0119100
🔹 Galop - 0800 999 5428
🔹 MindOut - mindout.org.uk
🔹 Mermaids - 0808 801 0400
🔹 Gendered Intelligence - genderedintelligence.co.uk

“The crisis team were amazing and got me assessed immediately and put on an antipsychotic. They came to see me every day for a week until they referred me to GRIP, which stands for Gloucestershire Recovery in Psychosis.

”It was a struggle initially and I also went through a period of very low mood. I felt a worthless burden and that everyone was better off without me. I was also so worried about how all of this might affect my course and that I may not be able to do it anymore. But that was not the case.

“When the medication kicked in I started to feel better. My psychotic symptoms began to disappear.

“Just one month after my episode I had to sit a series of exams. Well, I smashed them all. Since then, I have successfully completed 2 placements and my second year of university. With the support of my psychiatrist, I have also stopped my medication and am now receiving Cognitive Behavioural Therapy which is really helping.

After a bad psychotic episode, Robyn thought it would be impossible to make a full recovery. But thanks to her mix of meds, CBT and the crisis team she is now back doing her degree in mental health nursing ➡️ https://bit.ly/4h1e7zs

Sometimes we worry about the mental health of friends and loved ones, but we don't want to tell them we're worried. Thanks so much to (Insta) for creating this beautiful illustration, showing there are lots of different ways to start that conversation.

And what better time to start than on when millions of us across the UK will be chatting about mental health? 💙
