FINDING THE PLOTS...
Handsworth - Healing Garden
This week, we were really chuffed to welcome a new volunteer who livened our space with her bubbly and enthusiastic personality. From a scientific background originally, her love for gardening particularly around flowering plants 🌻however, she was very keen to learn about growing veggies, so we made sure that she did not leave empty-handed. Thank you for the productive introduction.
Despite the colder months, we've taken the opportunity to use the relative good weather to give consistent attention to out compost piles. Although novice at these area of sustainable horticulture, we're learning as we go and very grateful to individuals and organisations that donate their out-of-date compostable fruit, vegetables and bread, because with regular turning, we can then cut back on our purchase of compost and refill our raised beds adequately in a few months time. We've also been paying attention to formulating our paths with bark chipping, that rest on top of multiple layers of cardboard, not only to give context to the design of the healing garden but, to keep the site anti-slip and as hazard free as possible for our visitors during wet times.

We're giving a huge shout out to for finding the replacement of our entrance shed. This addition to the space and can now provide us with a snazzier, waterproof structure for us to store some of our equipment. Overall, things are looking optimistic for the growth and development of this site and we'll update you some more next month. Volunteers welcomed!
