🌟🧶 Celebrating Judith – Volunteer Award Nominee 🧶🌟
We are delighted to share that Judith Shone has been nominated for the Volunteer Award and achieved second place at the Coverage Care Awards! 🎉
Judith’s journey with the Knit and Natter Group began back in 2013, when three volunteers – Gaynor Cook, Rosie Read, and Judith herself – came together to start a weekly gathering at Stone House. What began as a few hours of knitting and chatting has grown into something truly special, bringing joy, companionship, and purpose to so many service users and members of the local community.
Over the years, the group’s creations have reached far beyond Stone House — from children’s jumpers sent to Malawi through African Vision Malawi, to blankets and hats donated to Knit for Life, the Fire Service charity supporting Romania, and the Peace and Hope Trust sending items to Uganda, Romania, and Ukraine. Their work has touched lives across the world 🌍.
Closer to home, the group has brightened Bishop’s Castle with knitted bunting, flowers, and even a woolly Christmas tree proudly displayed at Stone House each year 🎄.
After the challenges of the Covid lockdowns, Judith single-handedly re-started the group, keeping the tradition alive. Today, she continues to lead weekly sessions, bringing people together to knit, chat, and create blankets that will once again be donated to those in need.
Judith’s dedication, warmth, and commitment to both service users and the wider community make her truly deserving of this recognition. We are so proud of her and grateful for everything she does 💖.
👏 Please join us in congratulating Judith on her well-earned nomination and celebrating the amazing impact of the Knit and Natter Group!
