Celebrating my first baby's birthday with this homemade dark chocolate forest log cake complete with marzipan fungi, almond crackle leaves and cake crumb moss

I used the Buche de Noel recipe by Edd Kimber. My daughter's favourite chocolate is dark, so we swapped two tablespoons of flour out for extra cocoa powder;
She also prefers chocolate over cream, so I used the following for the filing and icing:
370g Bonne Maman Hazelnut Chocolate Spread
300ml double cream
1tbsp cocoa
2tbsp light brown sugar
Seeds of 1 vanilla bean pod
2tbsp frangelico

Cake crumb is standard sponge recipe with green food colouring added and then crumbled (use gel colours for colour retention after baking
