//🔥🍑 BARRE 🍑🔥//

Why does Barre never get any easier? 🥴

I thought once I got my and stopped using the chair all my problems would be solved and it would be easy peasy. Yeah right 🥴

Thanks to the absolute queen of barre, pulsing it up and killing my quads and butt as per 🔥🔥🔥

//IN A FUNK?//

I’ve definitely needed a minute away from Instagram this week. The daily onslaught of negativity we get from social media, the news, other people’s opinions. It’s draining and it affects our mental health.

was spot on last week saying if the 1st thing you do when you wake up in the morning is look on social media or check your emails or news feed it sets the tone for the rest of your day. So I’ve been starting my days with a 10 minute wake up meditation from just to give me something else to focus on and for about a month or so now falling asleep to a relaxation meditation or hypnosis app which has made a huge difference and has just become a habit now.

We genuinely are all in the same boat right now and you have to do whatever you need to do to get you and your family through this s**t show. No apologies, no explanations, just do you.

If you need to step back from your socials, not post for a week or a month then you don’t need to explain yourself. If you lose followers, so what, they’re obv not interested in what you’re doing in the 1st place so do you even need them?

I felt better today after a gorgeous walk in the woods with the dogs earlier and a quick 30 min hiit workout with . Even though sometimes it’s hard to find the motivation to move when you feel crappy it definitely lifts your mood and energy and you’ll never regret it 💪🏼

Hope everyone stays well and does whatever they need to do to get through this latest lockdown 🖤

//GOODY BAGS - PART 5//

Today’s the day 🌕 and last but by no means least is our final small business that has been hugely supportive and helped us out with your fantastic goody bags.
with.kim found her love of
essential oils through her journey as a yoga teacher and became a wellness advocate with dōTERRA 3 months ago. Using oils to help mental, physical and emotional, wellbeing. She says without a doubt they are they best oils she’s found as there are no fillers, they have not been adultered in anyway and each batch is rigorously tested as some can be even be used internally.

If you want to learn more then head over to her page and get in touch.

Kim is one of the warmest, most lovely people I’ve ever met and she also teaches yoga classes at Weeton village hall if you’re local to her. She’s a really special teacher 🧡🌕

//🦎SATURDAY STRETCH - LIZARD🦎//

UTTHAN PRISTHASANA

I absolutely love this pose but it can be a pretty intense hip opener. See if you can find a variation that works for you...

It’s a pose you can spend some time in and let gravity do its job to allow you to soften into it. As always focus on your breath...

//BENEFITS//

🔸Opens the hips, hamstrings, ground and hip flexors
🔸Strengthens the inner thighs muscles on the front leg
🔸Opens and releases the chest, shoulders and neck
🔸Prepares the body for deeper hip openers
🔸Keeping the knee lifted is a more active stretch or for a more restorative version drop the back knee down to the mat.

//COMMON MISTAKES//

🔹 Don’t drop the head and collapse through the chest. Keep the head and neck aligned with the spine by lifting the chin slightly and gazing forward.
🔹Try to stop the front knee from splaying out to the side
🔹Don’t allow the front knee to creep past the ankle
🔹Keep the spine long (don’t round the back)

//MODIFICATIONS//

🔸You can use blocks, a bolster or even stack your sofa cushions to rest your hands or fi****ms on.
🔸Place a blanket under the back knee if it is on the ground.

Do you love Lizard pose as much as me? 🧡💙

//😅7 DAYS OF SWEAT😅//

Day 5 😅

I’ve been doing 7 days of sweat on you tube because I really need to get some cardio in. I really don’t love cardio, I’d much rather get my sweat on doing Pilates, barre or power yoga but I def need it so figured these 20 min bursts might be just about enough for now 😆 ease me in gently or not so gently!!

Today was all about the upper body and core. Upper body is definitely my weakness so I’m sure I’ll feel this tomorrow 💪🏼

//🌪WRING IT OUT🌪//

I love twists for getting deep into achey and tight muscles. This is one of my favourite twists/stretches for getting into the back of my hips, my SIJ, and my QL muscles which are super sore and stiff at the moment so doing this on the daily.

I need to get booked in 😬

Our spines are designed to move forward (flexion), backward (extension), sideways (laterally both sides) and rotation (twists both ways) but quite often the only direction we move it in is forward flexion and occasionally maybe slight extension if we stand up from a chair and stretch for a few seconds for example.

Do you make time to stretch?

Even just 10 minutes a day can make a huge difference

//💋GOODY BAGS - PART 2 💋//

Next up

Laura is a fellow yoga teacher, in fact we met on our yoga teacher training, and an Independent Tropic Ambassador.

Laura started with Tropics back in May right in the middle of the pandemic but she’s such a hard worker she already has a team of 5 ladies working with her.

She’s an absolute star in supporting our full moon workshop with some yummy Tropic goodies.

If you fancy giving Tropics amazing range a try you can visit Laura’s online shop www.tropicskincare.com/laurasinclair_1 and give her a follow to stay up to date with all the offers and goodies coming out now in time for Christmas.

Now more than ever we need to support each other and especially small and local businesses 🧡

//🧘🏼‍♀️SUNDAYS ARE FOR SELF CARE - BREATHING 🧘🏻‍♂️ //

When we’re in a panic response whether that’s simply through chronic stress or an actual fear of something that’s about to happen like an interview or social anxiety for example. One of the most powerful tools for we have for calming ourselves is our breath.

Next time you feel your heart starting to race, your mind going into overdrive, maybe your palms even start to feel sweaty. Try this simple breath technique.

🍂 Inhale for a count of 4
🍂 Hold for a count of 4
🍂 Exhale for a count of 4

You can use the video as a visual technique 🧡🍂

Repeat as many times as you like until you feel your heart rate start to slow down.

//WHY?//

Deep breathing activated the vagus nerve, which stimulates a relaxation response throughout our bodies. It shifts our nervous system from the sympathetic, fight or flight mode, to the para-sympathetic, or rest and digest mode allowing our mind and bodies to get back in sync. 🙏🏼

//🧘🏼‍♀️AIR ELEMENT MANDALA🧘🏼‍♀️//

I’ve been consciously making time for my own practice much more lately and so booked myself onto 2 day Earth/Air mandala immersion this weekend.

The strange thing was I love all things forward fold and into my hips and hamstrings, which was the focus of yesterday’s Earth flow, and typically really dislike backbends so was a bit apprehensive about a backbend focussed practice at 8am on a Sunday morning.

Yesterday I was so sore and stiff in my back and neck at that time in the morning it took away from the enjoyment of the practice and I struggled with motivation to keep going. This morning it was as if the backbends@worked into all the stiffness and I felt amazing.

I’ve been trying to look at things from a different perspective lately and I think this just about sums it up for me 🙏🏼

Have a lovely Sunday ☀️
