Info regarding the walk way upto to Project Elephant Base Camp at Blackpool Zoo

⚠️ Visitor Update ⚠️

From Wednesday, 21st January, to Friday, 23rd January, 2026, access up to Project Elephant Base Camp will be temporarily closed as we carry out improvements to the upper walkway.

The lower viewing area, accessible via Dinosaur Safari, will remain open. Elephants will continue to have access to the outdoor area; however, please note that they will only be visible if they choose to spend time outside.

We are aware Project Elephant Base Camp is a popular habitat; therefore, advance online tickets will be reduced to £12.00 per person during this time period. We thank you for your patience during the latest in a series of significant investments at the zoo.

I’m happy to announce that my annual jobs fair – Blackpool’s biggest ever – is returning to the Winter Gardens Conference Centre on Thursday 26 February 2026. 🙌

Following the huge success of last year we’re going bigger and better with a stronger focus on helping local people access quality jobs, apprenticeships and long-term career progression.

Last year over 4,000 jobseekers came through the doors, with more than 1,500 job opportunities on offer and 1,000 jobs secured. 100 employers exhibited, from local small businesses to major organisations and it was a real reminder of the appetite for work, skills and opportunity here in Blackpool.

This year, the Jobs Fair has a stronger focus on quality jobs. We’re showcasing clear pathways to skilled trades, health and social care careers, manufacturing and engineering, hospitality and tourism management, public sector careers, apprenticeships and retraining routes and digital and financial services. 💼

Alongside employers, we’ll also have wrap-around support services on hand – from CV workshops and employability training to careers advice, mental health and wellbeing support and guidance on further education and apprenticeships. My aim is to make sure people don’t just find a job, but the right career for them and hope for the future.

Marco Pierre White's has been fully removed from the Holiday Inn Blackpool, By IHG and the move for Platfom 9, the in-house restaurant, to take over has begun.

Inside the foyer of the hotel it states it will be full open in Spring of this year. Very much looking forward to seeing this when its fully open.
