How should rehab look for your horseโฆ.
When your horse suffers an injury or is diagnosed with a condition, and your vet advises now is the time to start rehab- there is so much advice out there; it can be hard to know what the best thing to do is!
Having been involved in over 100 rehab cases, here our top tips of what your horses rehab should look like
1. It should involved static strength exercises
2. Specific of what type of exercise, what terrain and what focus (long reining/ ridden/ lunging)
3. Be progressive; building your horseโs body up slowly
4. Rehab should be at least 12 weeks; depending on condition/ severity etc. this length of time is required to build up muscle, flexibility & re- educate your horseโs body
5. It should be possible- every owner has their own limitations and this should be considered when prescribing a rehab programme
6. It should be relevant for the condition/ injury your horse has sustained.
7. It should be structured- day by day with exactly what you need to do!
8.Find yourself a specialist rehab physio- this can be game changing to the success of the rehab
Share this with a friend that might need some support though their rehab journey
