Friday was super special for me. Supporting birthing families is always special but this time, it was family. My beautiful Cousin Aimee, who also happens to be my Goddaughter went into labour in the wee hours. We had been preparing and chatting for months, so that going into labour, she knew her whys and she knew support was there throughout.

Because she chose to labour at home, I got to watch something that I haven’t had the privilege of before. Aimee had her amazing, supportive partner with her but she also had her Mum and Sister. Three people who know her and love her best, there for every moment. I consciously stepped back and watched as this beautiful team did their thing. I didn’t need to do much at all because the preparation was already there and so was the beautiful support.

Every birthing Mama teaches me something. This was no exception. One of the many things I take with me from Friday is this… No matter how much anxiety attempts to take control, with preparation and support, anxiety cannot win. I saw it try and I saw it beaten repeatedly by a woman who is so much stronger than she believed! A few times she needed reminding, but they were brief, because once she remembered, she took control and won.

Aimee’s labour was beautiful in every way. It didn’t end exactly as hoped and this family has a unique birth story to tell, that’s for sure! But when one of Aimee’s greatest worries came to pass and a hospital transfer became necessary, she was reminded by us around her that she was not and would never be alone.

Thank you Aimee and Tom for allowing me into your space and a massive congratulations on the birth of your beautiful daughter, Bella!

Informed choice is your “Power Up” - it’s about you making big decisions with all the information you need.

Because how many times have you heard a pregnant woman say, “Oh, I’m just going to go with the flow”?

It sounds soft, it sounds easy - but you are giving away your power.

And the statistics tell their own story:

𝑩𝒚 𝟐𝟎𝟑𝟎, 𝒏𝒆𝒂𝒓𝒍𝒚 𝟑𝟎% 𝒐𝒇 𝒃𝒊𝒓𝒕𝒉𝒔 𝒂𝒓𝒆 𝒑𝒓𝒐𝒋𝒆𝒄𝒕𝒆𝒅 𝒕𝒐 𝒃𝒆 𝒃𝒚 𝒄𝒂𝒆𝒔𝒂𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒏 𝒔𝒆𝒄𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏.

That’s double the WHO’s (World Health Organisation) recommended 10-15% - I think we all need to stop and take note.

Whose flow are you actually in?
The system’s rhythm? Someone else’s timeline? Or your own deep, instinctive knowing?

This is a life experience that will echo long after your baby’s birthday. It will be re-lived and stored as memory in your body. This metamorphosis into mother matters.

And I know how this can feel… especially when you’ve never done this before.
Part of you is trusting, but there’s also the part of you unsure where you even get to choose.

So let me gently remind you, you are allowed to ask questions and not know everything.

Because informed choice isn’t about controlling a situation or pretending you are an expert in birth (although you are the expert of your own body).

It’s about a conscious consideration.
It’s the pause before a yes wrapped up in the courage to say no or the grace and softness to say “not yet.” What will happen if we just wait?

You’re finding your voice to say:

What are my options?
What feels right for me?
What would support me to feel safe, seen, powerful here?

You stop outsourcing your power and you start embodying it.

We open this fully inside Birthology - my holistic antenatal space where we weave head, heart, and hearth so you feel informed, prepared, and held in something much bigger than fear.

And if you're not sure where to start, or you just want to talk through your options with someone who genuinely gets it - come and have a conversation with me.

A free call is the simplest first step. No pressure, no agenda. Just you, me, and everything you want to feel going into your birth.

📲 Link in bio to book yours.

Either way, you get to choose. And you get to feel like a goddess while you do it.

Tea and Toast!

What do those words make you think of?

For me it’s that amazing moment when you’ve had your baby and in comes the tea and toast. It’s never been as good as in that moment!

Typically (I know it doesn’t always go this way), this is the moment when you’ve done all the hard work. Your baby is here, you’re exhausted, relieved, emotional. The tea and toast is brought in and you receive that beautiful sustenance.

I’m really excited to be starting our Tea and Toast online meet ups! My hope is that they will be a place filled with chatter and warmth, where your heart can be filled up with the sustenance it needs, as you navigate life with your new baby.

It will be a place to compare notes, ask questions, have a good moan and a good laugh too. All facilitated by a Birth and Postpartum Doula.

Our first meet up will be on Wednesday May 13th at 10.30am

Spaces are limited.

You can book here… https://calendly.com/mylittlefamilyinfo/new-meeting

Over the years I’ve supported families through pregnancy, birth and the postnatal period—both professionally and in my own life.

I know how intense and overwhelming it can feel, especially when things don’t go as expected or you’re left with questions afterwards.

So I’m opening up a small number of 1:1 support calls.

These are for you if you:
• want to talk through your birth experience
• are struggling to process what happened
• feel overwhelmed in the early weeks with your baby
• just need calm, experienced support and reassurance leading up to or following your baby’s birth

This isn’t clinical or formal—just a safe, supportive space to talk things through.

If this would help, feel free to send me a message 🤍

Following the BBC News report today on dangerous sleep advice for babies. It’s so important to make sure any advice given or received is evidence based. If you’re unsure about advice given to you:
- Ask where that advice is evidenced?
- Ask why and how it helps?
If you still feel uncomfortable, do your own research and/or seek advice from someone else. There are many, well trained sleep specialists out there, as well as Postpartum Doulas, who can offer advice that is safe and backed by evidence.
