As we ride our way into Christmas remember to keep moving to keep those aches and pains away!

It doesn’t need to be the fastest run or the heaviest weight but by allowing yourself to keep moving your body and mind will thank you ❤️ let’s try to make it fun and social at this time of year!

I can’t exercise because:
🙋🏼‍♀️I work
🙋🏼‍♀️I have a young child
🙋🏼‍♀️I’m too tired
🙋🏼‍♀️My partner does alot of sport so he is out in the evening
🙋🏼‍♀️I can’t make classes most of the time
🙋🏼‍♀️ My life admin is overwhelming

➡️ These are all reasons I could use also….

❓What are the symptoms?
- pain when kneeling, squatting and climbing the stairs
- grinding or locking sound/ sensation
- deep ache which is worse after sitting for long periods
- muscle wasting in the Quadriceps

According to The Faculty of Biological Sciences 🔍still only 27% of women are strength training despite the numerous health benefits which include:

✅ Reduction of injury rate including reducing falls.
✅ Increase in metabolism rate 🎂 this means more cake
✅ Disease prevention including heart disease ❤️
✅ Boost in mental health and wellbeing 🥰

‼️They also report that Women are more likely to experience ‘gymtimidation’ (25%) than men (16%).

In order to get your strength sessions in try the following:
➡️ Use a PT to gain confidence and knowledge in the weights you want to use.
💡Combine weights with another form of exercise if you struggle for time - maybe use weights during your pilates sessions.
👯Train with a friend to build confidence and enjoyment.
