📣 We are thrilled to share this IMPORTANT study! The Birth Experience Study (BESt) is the UK arm of an international investigation co-produced by Dr Hazel Keedle and Prof Hannah Dahlen.

The Birth Experience Study UK, led by Dr Claire Feeley and translated into five languages, will be an invaluable resource for all those passionate about women and birthing people’s physiological and psychological wellbeing.

The survey is OPEN! Find out more and please share widely with your networks! 🔗 https://www.kcl.ac.uk/research/best-uk?utm_campaign=meetedgar&utm_medium=social&utm_source=meetedgar.com

“We are seeking to recruit birthing women and people who have given birth in the last 5 years around all 4 nations of the UK; those who have used NHS services and those who have used private obstetric or midwife services, or independent midwives, those who couldn't access care they wanted, and those who opted out altogether.

The survey is based on a co-produced Australian study, led by Dr Hazel Keedle and Prof Hannah Dahlen, now an international collaboration, which has been adapted for the UK using input from maternity consumer groups, third sector organisations and service users with diverse lived experiences.

The aims of the research include understanding the factors that contribute to a good or bad birth experience, the prevalence of birth trauma and obstetric violence in the UK and the impact of different models of care on people’s childbirth experiences. The goal of the research team is to use the findings from the study to positively influence guidance, policy and practice within UK maternity services.”

Do you have a lived experience of perinatal mental health problems or postnatal depression? The DAWN-P study is seeking a new co-investigator to join their team in testing a new smartphone app, designed to screen for postnatal depression.
