1point’s Living Room Safe space at Silverwell House has successfully completed its first ‘Culture Café’ scheme and is putting plans to continue with further programmes in the New Year.
The project funded by consists of six sessions where all participants lunch, learn and link with local people and organisations who can help build confidence, connections, and communication skills.

We would like to put a special call out for Bolton's Money Skills Service whose session provided practical tips on paying bills, finding the cheapest energy suppliers, and saving money and the brilliant cafes and food suppliers in our neighbourhood who supplied our lunches – in particular on Bradshawgate!

The project has shown the power of people from different backgrounds and experiences coming together to reflect, support each other and share ideas over a free lunch. Being ‘We are Bolton’ ambassadors, 1Point’s Elisabeth Long and Drissia Ahmed were delighted to attend a breakfast meeting to launch the new Albert café in Bolton Town Hall.
This was followed by joining guests on a double-decker bus tour of Bolton’s well known high spots, ending up at Le Mans Crescent.

But Elisabeth and Drissia completed their tour of Bolton at one further historical Bolton’s highlight not included in the tour. This is Silverwell House, a Georgian mansion in that disappeared for 100 years and is of course where they provide community support services on behalf of 1point.

Congratulations and Best Wishes to the latest counsellor completing 1point's Graduate Scheme! While we are sad to see her go, we’re incredibly proud of everything she's achieved.

In her own words, “Being part of the Graduate Counselling Scheme has been truly life-changing. It’s helped me grow both personally and professionally. I’ve learned so much about counselling, connecting with clients, and the power of reflection. Working with experienced counsellors and having regular supervision gave me the confidence to communicate better and support others with empathy and integrity. It pushed me out of my comfort zone, helped me apply theory in real-life situations, and reminded me that learning never stops. This experience has confirmed that talking therapies are where I belong—and I’m excited to keep growing as a therapist.”

This year's World Mental Health Day theme is 'access to services - mental health in catastrophes and emergencies'.

This theme highlights the mental health impact of repeated exposure to news coverage of crisis and conflicts.

It can feel overwhelming to constantly see and read negative news from around the world or even closer to home.
It can feel like the world is continually in a crisis and even if you're not directly affected by events, it can still feel like a lot to cope with.

It's okay to ask for help, no matter what you, or anyone else is going through.
