Make an appointment at Greenlight Pharmacy for your Covid Spring booster

02/04/2025

🐥COVID SPRING BOOSTER booking information🐥

People aged 75 years and older, residents in care homes for older people, and those aged 6 months and over with a weakened immune system will be offered a dose of COVID-19 vaccine this spring.

🐣Now available at Greenlight pharmacy until 17th June. Please come in to book or book via the National booking system on line or by calling 119🐣

Spring 2025 vaccine eligibility

COVID-19 is more serious in older people and in people with certain underlying health conditions. For these reasons, people aged 75 years and over, those in care homes, and those aged 6 months and over with a weakened immune system are being offered a spring dose of COVID-19 vaccine.

Timing of the spring vaccine

You should be offered an appointment between April and June, with those at highest risk being called in first. You will be invited to have your booster around 6 months after your last dose, but you can have it as soon as 3 months.
If you are turning 75 years of age between April and June, you do not have to wait until your birthday, you can attend when you are called for vaccination.
You will be invited for your booster, your GP may offer you the vaccine or you can book using the NHS app for Apple or Android. You can also find your nearest walk-in vaccination site from the NHS website.

Vaccines in use this spring

You will be given a booster dose of a vaccine made by Pfizer or Moderna and approved in the UK. These vaccines have been updated since the original vaccines and target a different COVID-19 variant. These updated vaccines boost protection well, and give slightly higher levels of antibody against the more recent strains of COVID-19 (Omicron).
As we cannot predict which variants of COVID-19 will be circulating this spring and summer, the Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI) have concluded that the vaccine used in the later weeks of the autumn 2024 programme should be used.

Please accept the vaccination that is offered to you as soon as you are able to.

Who cannot take up the offer of a spring vaccine

There are very few eligible people who should not have a dose this spring. If you have had a severe reaction to a previous dose of the vaccine you should discuss this with your doctor.

Think Pharmacy First at Greenlight Pharmacy.

Over 95% of pharmacies in England now provide the NHS Pharmacy First service which supports people in certain age groups who need help with

▪ Earache (aged 1 to 17 years)
▪ Impetigo (aged 1 year and over)
▪ Infected insect bites (aged 1 year and over)
▪ Shingles (aged 18 years and over)
▪ Sinusitis (aged 12 years and over)
▪ Sore throats (aged 5 years and over)
▪ Urinary tract infections (UTIs) in women (aged 16 to 64 years)

If your child or you have symptoms that suggest you may have one of these conditions, you can walk into a pharmacy and be offered a consultation with a pharmacist in a private consultation room.
Your GP surgery can also refer people to a pharmacy for the service.
Pharmacists will provide advice and, if clinically necessary, offer an NHS medicine to treat the condition (these medicines are supplied free of charge to children under 16 years, with the normal NHS prescription charge rules applying to people aged 16 or over).
They will then send an electronic message to the GP surgery, so they can update their patient records.
Should the pharmacist be unable to help, you will be directed to your GP surgery or other health professional as appropriate.

If your child or you have symptoms that suggest one of the above conditions, why not give the Pharmacy First service a try?

Please make sure you request your prescriptions atleast 7 DAYS before you run out of your medication. We rely heavily on the GP surgeries to send us your prescriptions. Most GP surgeries require 3 days notice. We are not to blame if your prescription hasn’t turned up due to it not being requested within this timeframe. We always send requests urgent if it’s needed before 7 days but can’t always guarantee this will arrive back to us for when you need it.
