This really is the most elegant setting to enjoy some rest and relaxation!

It was such a pleasure to return to to share a special soothing sound meditation session with their hardworking team members to destress and unwind at the end of a busy week.

I can't believe it has been over 10 years since I was spa manager at this beautiful hotel, with so many good memories it is always great to go back.

On a scale of 1-10, how stressed do you feel?

Stress seems to be ever present in our daily lives, but did you know that stress can make you age faster?

Our chronological age reflects the years we have lived, whereas our biological age shows how our body functions and feels, indicating overall health and longevity.

Our biological age tends to be influenced by our lifestyle. Chronic stress triggers the release of hormones such as cortisol and adrenaline, which over a prolonged period of time can cause inflammation, cellular damage and premature aging.

When stress decreases, our body can naturally repair and restore itself, slowing down or reversing biological aging.

Luckily several studies indicate that techniques for reducing stress, such as mindfulness meditation, yoga, regular exercise and good-quality sleep, may contribute to improvements in various biological markers related to aging.

So, for all of you that need to de-stress or want to find your zen, then this Sunset Deep Rest Sound Session is just what you need.

🌿Forest Bathing🌿

Take a few deep breaths, focus on your senses and allow yourself to become fully present in the moment.

Shinrin-yoku (forest bathing) is the Japanese practice of immersing yourself in nature to enhance your well-being.

In Shinrin-yoku the focus is on actively experiencing the sights, sounds, smells and textures of the forest, rather than just passively walking through it.

Studies have shown that forest bathing can lower blood pressure, reduce stress hormones and improve mood and overall well-being, what's not to love?

It's almost time for me to leave this special place...🌿

I'll be back teaching my regular weekly yoga classes and taking treatment bookings from Thursday 17th April.

⛰️Sacred Spirit⛰️

In Shintoism, Japan's earliest religion, it's believed that Kami (sacred spirits/gods) take the form of all things in nature such as mountains, trees, rivers, sun, rain etc...

Since ancient times Miyajima Island itself has been regarded as a Kami and was once considered so sacred that it's Shinto Shrine and red Torii Gate were constructed offshore so that the sacred ground was not spoilt.

Although now open to the public, this beautiful island maintains its magical quality and I would love to spend more time here...

🌸Hanami - Flower Viewing🌸

The bloom of Japan's iconic pink cherry blossoms (sakura) symbolises the arrival of spring.

Blooms peak at different times depending on their variety, location and weather conditions.

Once flowered their delicate beauty usually only lasts for one week before the petals fall.

The short lifespan of the cherry blossoms beautiful bloom and fall reflects the Buddhist concept of impermanence, reminding us to appreciate the present moment.
