Shame often whispers that we're unworthy, but shame-informed therapy shows us a different story; one where honour and compassion pave the way to authentic self-worth. When we meet shame with kindness instead of judgment, healing becomes possible, and we can reconnect with our true selves. What small act of honour could you offer yourself today?

Some parts learned to stay small for good reason. Minimising can show up as:

• Staying quiet in meetings or conversations, even when you have something to say

• Softening opinions, ideas, or feelings to avoid conflict

• Holding back emotions so others feel comfortable

• Taking on less than you’re capable of to avoid attention or judgement

• Putting your own needs last to keep the peace or stay connected

These adaptations were protective. They helped maintain safety, belonging, or stability when the stakes felt high. They are not mistakes. They were intelligent responses to earlier conditions.

This reflection isn’t about removing or exposing these parts. It’s about noticing where protection may no longer be needed. Noticing simply means recognising and creating space for choice. Awareness does not demand change, it opens possibility.

Authentic self honour here is acknowledging what once mattered without rushing to outgrow it. Something can be recognised without being dismantled.

Online therapy is breaking down walls that once made seeking mental health support feel impossible.

It offers a safe, accessible space where you can explore your feelings at your own pace, without the usual barriers of travel, stigma, or time constraints.

How has access to therapy – online or in person – changed the way you approach your mental wellbeing?

Have you ever felt like you're living a life that isn't truly yours?

Therapeutic coaching isn't about fixing you; it's about uncovering the authentic self beneath the noise.

It helps you:

• Recognise your core values and strengths
• Break free from patterns that hold you back
• Build confidence to live on your own terms

This journey isn't always easy, but every step you take is an act of courage and self-honour.

Shame often hides in silence, yet it can deeply shape how we see ourselves and our worth.

Using shame-informed practices will gently uncover these hidden feelings, creating space for authentic honour and self-acceptance.

Clients who engage with shame-informed therapy often experience a profound shift: from being overwhelmed by self-judgment to reclaiming their identity with compassion and strength.

For example, one client struggling with deep-rooted shame related to past trauma found that by exploring their story in a validating, honouring environment, they could soften their inner critic and build resilience against anxiety and burnout.

This approach doesn't aim to erase shame but to change it into a pathway for healing and personal growth. It recognises that true recovery comes from accepting every part of ourselves with kindness.

If you're carrying shame that holds you back, know that healing is possible and you don't have to face it alone. How might your life change if you honoured your whole self, exactly as you are?

We’re often taught that unfinished things are problems to resolve. Loose ends can be labelled inefficient, uncomfortable, or something to tidy away quickly. Yet some experiences need time rather than solutions. Understanding, grief, change, and integration often unfold slowly, in layers.

This prompt invites noticing what feels unfinished without turning it into a task. You’re not being asked to decide, conclude, or move on. You’re simply acknowledging that something is still forming.

Authentic self honour here means allowing process to exist without urgency. Not everything unfinished is behind you. Some things are still becoming.

My latest article just published in the Purbeck Gazette

This piece explores the idea of the brain as a muscle, how curiosity, learning and being new at things can gently support wellbeing, especially when life has nudged us into autopilot. Growth does not always come from pushing harder, sometimes it comes from stretching a little, with kindness and patience.

If you are feeling stuck, restless or craving something different this new year, this article is for you. I would love to hear what resonated as you read it.

Thank you to the Purbeck Gazette for the space to have these conversations about mental health and everyday healing.

Many of us become reliable in quiet ways. We hold emotional steadiness, practical responsibility, or unspoken reassurance for others, often without naming the weight it carries. This can happen through care, habit, or survival, especially if being dependable once kept things safe.

This prompt isn’t about withdrawing support or questioning your capacity to care. It’s about acknowledging the effort involved in holding things together. Noticing the weight allows for honesty with yourself, and sometimes opens space for support, rest, or softer expectations.

Authentic self honour here is recognising that strength does not cancel out impact. You are allowed to notice what feels heavy, even if you continue to carry it.
