The residents at Five Rise enjoyed a big indoor street party celebrating VE Day 80th year and also had a delicious cream tea. The residents also showed off there artistic skills in our art class with colourful painted pictures of flowers. North East producers came to perform a summer show with plenty of songs to bring out the sunshine. Saxophonist Neil played for the residents with a lovely selection of songs and Ukulele Henry performed an afternoon of entertainment for the residents to sing a long too. We had an Indian deli afternoon to celebrate Bradford city of culture and the residents enjoyed the first bowl of strawberries from our very own garden. The residents have been flower arranging and playing crazy golf which was so much fun. Marion fromMusical moments came and delivered a fun filled afternoon with plenty of laughter.

Plenty of fabulous entertainment at Five Rise over the Easter period for the residents to enjoy including Scott Richards, Andy wiseman, Haworth Ukulele band, a family Jazz band and Musical moments who have just won winner 2025 care sector awards, congratulations! The residents have been busy with the gardening club and have also planted sunflower seeds for a competition. The Soroptimist ladies came and kindly brought some chocolate goodies for the residents to enjoy. St George’s day was celebrated at our very own Five Rise Returns pub with a little tipple and home made goodies. The residents have been keeping fit with Holmes dance academy doing a fortnightly seated dance and also an afternoon dance a thin. A Mexican afternoon was held with Mexican outfits and hats worn by the residents and staff to celebrate different monthly cultures with Mexican nibbles and juices. Residents have been enjoying the new activity ‘What’s in the box?’ With old artefacts and objects which has certainly brought up some conversations about there own lives and travels. Our Easter celebrations consisted of an Easter singalong, name the dog, Raffle and Easter goodies. The lovely cuddly dog was named Caramel!

Housekeeping Position
Five Rise Nursing Home in Bingley are looking for someone to join their dedicated housekeeping team.

The role is 24 hours per week. The regular working hours are 8am – 4pm, 3 days per week and include every other weekend.

There is potential to offer this role at an average of 28 hours per week, 4 shifts one week and 3 shifts the following week for the right candidate, (includes every other weekend).

Another exciting month with March flying by! The residents enjoyed the yummy treats of pancakes with different toppings with some having 2nd’s and even 3rd’s! A wonderful afternoon of entertainment with female vocalist Emma James who always delivers. Our seated dance class-with Fran from Holmes dance academy made sure everyone ‘s well-being was in tip top shape and a fabulous show was also performed by the dance students! Five Rise celebrated St Patrick’s day with a little tipple and singalong with the Irish wash a woman making an appearance with her dirty laundry. Treats were made by the kitchen for the residents to enjoy. Texas Rose line dancers came to Five Rise and showed off there wonderful talents dancing to very catchy music. Some residents celebrated birthdays this month with the most delicious home made cakes. The residents made lavender bags for their rooms with the ladies Soroptimist group. flower arranging made the residents feel that spring is well and truly here with all the beautiful colours especially the daffodil’s. Let’s hope April showers don’t follow!

Five Rise Nursing Home in Bingley are looking for someone to join their dedicated laundry team.
The role is 24 hours per week. The regular working hours are 8am – 4pm, 3 days per week and include every other weekend. There is a potential to offer this role at 6 hours per day over 4 days a week (including every other weekend) for the right candidate.

Another month gone by, just where is the time going? During the month of February the residents have been on some trips, an invite from Beckfoot school was accepted and the residents attended an afternoon tea with the students and played bingo. Musical moments came to the home to entertain the residents with singing, playing the ukulele and abit of exercise thrown in as well. Next trip was to Memory lane at Cottingley for another cream tea and sing a long. The ladies Soroptimist group came to do some crafts with the residents and made some beautiful smelling lavender bags. The residents also enjoyed all things Italian with a quiz, Italian coffee and Bellini mock tail afternoon with Italian Tiramisu mini cakes that just melted in your mouth. The residents also had a Valentines flower arranging session and a romantic singalong which nearly brought the roof down! And also celebrated were the birthdays of February with the most amazing birthday cakes made in house. The Dolly mixture choir did a splendid performance of different songs and recitals with some comedy thrown in, very much enjoyed by residents, relatives and staff . Let’s see what March has in-store for Five Rise!

What a lovely way to start off a new year with a wedding celebration! One of our residents was bridesmaid for her daughter and all the residents got invited and threw confetti at the special couple! The residents had a sweets and treats afternoon and enjoyed listening to music whilst tasting the yummy chocolates and biscuits. Tracy played the piano for one of the activity sessions and residents sang along to the good old favourites. Burns afternoon was celebrated singing Scottish songs and the head chef made a Irn brew truffle that was amazing! The residents always like to be competitive and when playing tin can alley there winning sides were being shown. Lots of fun was had by residents who ate Chinese food and sweets with chopsticks, some residents had never had a go but thoroughly enjoyed themselves when they did. A very big Thankyou to everyone who sponsored the great Christmas pudding race, we raised £70 for Dementia Friendly!

Firstly, you might want to put the kettle on and put your feet up before you read what’s been going on at Five Rise as it is a longer post than normal! Wow! What a month December has been for the residents. We started our Christmas celebrations off with female vocalist Emma James singing a wonderful selection of Christmas songs, then Bingley Grammar school choir came to sing and gave the residents Christmas presents. Residents then attended our very own Tingle creek Christmas horse racing and the ladies wore some amazing hats. Time for Paul Bryan to entertain with his fabulous and funny Christmas show and then the residents attended Down memory lane Christmas singalong. The wonderful Soroptimist ladies came to do some arts and crafts and a brilliant performance by Neil Wilkinson on his saxophone. It was an amazing day for all when Five Rise held there very first Great Christmas Pudding race where the residents, staff and visitors could sponsor a pud and win prizes. Chadwick Lawrence solicitors kindly donated some lovely presents for the residents to open and the Christmas Bingo bonanza was well attended with yet again more Christmas presents for prizes. Andy wiseman gave an amazing performance at the Christmas party and the kitchen staff produced a Buffett fit for a king. Pantomime next with a great performance from North East Producers, residents enjoyed Jack and the Beanstalk joining in the songs and laughing at the camaraderie. Christmas Eve the residents had two special visitors who just happened to be passing on their slay, yes of course it was mr and Mrs Claus bringing presents for the residents. The month was finished off with a cheese and wine afternoon on New Years Eve with music and Auld Lang syne. Five Rise would like to wish everyone a very happy new year and let’s see what 2025 is going to bring…….

Five Rise residents have enjoyed another month of fun activities during the month of November. The residents watched a colourful fireworks display and had the good old favourite pie and peas tea. All residents and staff observed the two minutes silence on Remembrance Day and watched the cenotaph parade. The ladies of the Soroptimist group came and did some arts and crafts making pine cone Christmas trees and the Dolly mixture choir gave an excellent performance of songs and poems that were also funny to listen to. The residents were creative in flower arranging and the daily activities were very well attended. Now, are we ready for Christmas? Bring it on!!
