✨ Separation Anxiety – a normal (and healthy) stage ✨
Around 8–10 months, many babies begin to experience separation anxiety. You might notice tears when you leave the room, clinginess, or your baby becoming unsettled when someone else holds them — and this often shows up just as parents are thinking about returning to work 💔
It can feel tough, emotional, and sometimes guilt-inducing… but this stage is actually a sign of healthy development.
At this age, babies are starting to understand that you exist even when they can’t see you. Their little brains are learning object permanence — and while that’s a big milestone, it can feel scary for them at first.
One gentle way to support them is through simple games like peekaboo or hide and seek.
These playful moments help your baby learn:
🤍 You might disappear
🤍 But you always come back
🤍 They are safe and secure
Over time, this builds trust and reassurance — even when you’re not right beside them.
Separation anxiety doesn’t mean your baby isn’t ready for childcare, or that you’ve done anything wrong. It means they love you, they feel connected to you, and their world is expanding 🌱
We talk about this stage a lot in our Climb & Play course, where movement, play, and connection all help support babies through these big emotional and developmental changes.
If you’re in this phase right now, take a breath. It’s a season. You’re doing exactly what your baby needs 🤍

✨ Happy Mama turns 6 this month ✨
What started as a weekly wellbeing group for mums has grown into something I never could have imagined.
Back then, I simply wanted to create a space where mums could come, connect, feel supported and know they weren’t alone. Then Covid hit… and I didn’t stop.
I couldn’t stop.
I supported mums in any way I could – creating town WhatsApp groups, running online support sessions, organising socially distanced buggy walks when it was safe, and even starting an outdoor toddler group. Somewhere along the way, a community was born.
That community grew to over 1,000 local mums supporting one another 💛
During this time, I also trained as a baby massage and baby yoga instructor, so that when it was finally safe, we could bring mums back together in person and continue those all-important wellbeing sessions alongside baby classes.
Fast forward to today, and what began as one weekly wellbeing group has grown into everything we now offer at the hub:
✨ 15 baby classes a week
✨ 21 toddler sessions
✨ Mum & baby fitness classes
✨ Parent workshops, events and so much more
All of this started because of my own experience of becoming a mum. I wanted to build the space I needed back then.
Never in a million years did I think it would turn into this.
To every mama who has walked through our doors, joined a group, trusted us with their journey, shared a coffee, a tear or a laugh — thank you.
I truly thank my lucky stars every single day that I get to do a job I love, supporting the most incredible mums.
Here’s to 6 years of Happy Mama… and to the community that made it what it is today 💫💛
I’d love to know what memories you have over the years 🫶🏻 Let me know in the comments 👇

✨ The 4 Month Sleep Regression – you’re not doing anything wrong ✨
If your baby was sleeping okay-ish and suddenly nights feel harder, naps are shorter, and you’re wondering what on earth has happened… you’re not alone, mama 🤍
Around 3–5 months, many babies go through what’s commonly called the 4 month sleep regression. It’s not actually a step backwards – it’s a big developmental leap.
At this stage, your baby’s sleep cycles change to be more like an adult’s. They move between light and deep sleep more often, and because everything is still so new, they may struggle to link those sleep cycles on their own.
That can look like:
• More night wakings
• Short naps
• Fighting sleep
• Wanting more comfort, feeds, or cuddles
It can be exhausting, especially when you’re already running on empty 😔
The most important thing to know?
🌱 This phase will pass.
🌱 You haven’t caused it.
🌱 Your baby isn’t “broken” or forming bad habits.
Right now, your baby needs reassurance and closeness as their little brain figures things out. Responding to them, offering comfort, and doing whatever helps you both get through the nights is more than enough.
Be gentle with yourself. Lower expectations where you can. Ask for help. Rest in the day if possible. This is a season — a hard one — but not a forever one 🤍
If you’re in the thick of it, I see you. You’re doing an incredible job, even on the days it doesn’t feel like it.
💤✨

The ethos of ‘Happy Mama’ is to bring the community of mamas together and support each other whether it be through friendship, networking or sharing advice. We recognise wholeheartedly that us mums don’t always take time to look after ourselves and can often feel overwhelmed by the prospect of being a mum and don’t always know the wealth of knowledge and support available to us nor the importance of our own health and wellbeing.
Often just chatting to other mums can be enough to reassure you that you are not ‘alone’ or that, how we are feeling is ‘totally normal’ but sometimes talking to someone with more expertise in a specialised area is more reassuring to them. We also believe that ‘people buy from people’ which is why we invite people from the community to attend and our sessions, too, allowing you the opportunity to ask questions about what they do and understand how they might be able to help support or nurture you.
We would really love for this to be a safe, comfortable place with a real emphasis on ‘Mums supporting Mums’. Whilst this will begin as a weekly ‘meet up’ session, we are hoping to hold larger events, such as ‘wellness days’, afternoon teas, summer picnics etc. all of these things we hope will go a long way in creating a network of mums making friends, sharing knowledge and skills and showing support and kindness to each other – after all, this is one of our biggest hopes for our babies!
If you offer a product or service that may benefit the nurture or wellbeing of our mamas or their babies, we would love to hear from you and add you to our list of ‘Happy Mama Friends’. By becoming a ‘Happy Mama Friend’ we will do the following for you;
Add you to our directory of recommended groups/classes/services/professionals in the area. This directory will be accessible for our Mamas in our Happy Mama group.
Share your page, plus any relevant posts with our mamas and to our page.
Signpost any of our mamas to you, as and when relevant.
Advertise your business during relevant themed weeks at our group.
What we ask for in return is;
That you attend our ‘Happy Mama’ weekly sessions 2/3 times a year.
Offer our mums a ‘Happy Mama’ discounts code that they can redeem against a term, first session or consultation with you.
Attendance and support at any larger events that we may plan for our mamas in the future e.g. ‘wellness days’, afternoon teas, summer picnics etc.
If you feel this is something you would like to join, be part of, or would like some more information, please do not hesitate to get in touch.
