'Surf Therapy Ltd' offers a service providing professional mental health advice, support, intervention and psycho-education using the activity of surfing as a platform.

'Surf Therapy Ltd' (STL) has been a project in the making since 2009, beginning in the North island of New Zealand. I am a Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN) who provides an alternative platform for mental health and wellbeing i

ntervention for individuals through the activity of surfing. As well as being employed by the NHS as Registered Mental Health Nurse, I have lived-experience of mental health difficulties; also being employed as a Peer Support Specialist within the NHS in the past. The concept of 'Surf Therapy' or 'Surfing as a therapy' has become a global collective movement backed by increasing research, leading to evidence-based practice. I combine my knowledge and skills as a professional mental health practitioner with my love and experience of surfing, creating a person centered holistic approach. I have a specific interest in Narrative Psychiatry and I often draw from the mental health nursing model 'The Tidal Model' (Barker and Buchanan-Barker 2005).
