November is Men’s Health Month, and one of the most common issues we see in clinic is nocturia — getting up multiple times at night to urinate.
While often attributed to prostate enlargement, nocturia can also signal other underlying conditions that warrant assessment.
Symptoms such as:
➡️ Frequent daytime urination
➡️ Difficulty initiating flow
➡️ Weak stream or stop–start urination
➡️ Dribbling at the end
➡️ Needing to return to the toilet shortly after finishing
may be linked to benign prostate enlargement, but can also overlap with prostate cancer, diabetes, medication effects, lifestyle factors, or stress.
At Essex Private Doctors, we assess:
✅ Prostate health (including examination & PSA testing)
✅ Medications
✅ Lifestyle contributors
✅ Blood tests
✅ Associated conditions
Once assessed, there are effective treatments available to improve symptoms and quality of sleep.
If nocturia is affecting you or your patients, early review can make a significant difference.
