Thank you to Bryan and Ray who celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary in October by giving back to the hospital team who cared for their great-granddaughter.

Daisy Ray received specialist care in the Special Care Baby Unit (SCBU) at the Princess of Wales Hospital in Bridgend. Grateful for the compassion and support their family experienced, Bryan and Ray decided to turn their anniversary celebrations into an opportunity to give something back.

At their anniversary party, the couple asked friends and family to join them in raising money for the unit through a raffle and donations instead of gifts.

The donation to our Cwm Taf Morgannwg NHS Charity will enhance comfort and care within the Special Care Baby Unit, helping to provide small but meaningful touches that make a hospital stay gentler for families, and supporting staff wellbeing along the way.

Thank you again Bryan and Ray ❤️

------

Diolch i Bryan a Ray a ddathlwyd eu pen-blwydd priodas 65 oed ym mis Hydref drwy roi rhywbeth yn ôl i dîm yr ysbyty a ofalodd am eu gor-wyres.

Derbyniodd Daisy Ray ofal arbenigol yn yr Uned Gofal Arbennig i Fabanod (SCBU) yn Ysbyty Tywysoges Cymru ym Mhen-y-bont ar Ogwr. Yn ddiolchgar am y tosturi a'r gefnogaeth a brofodd eu teulu, penderfynodd Bryan a Ray droi eu dathliadau pen-blwydd priodas yn gyfle i roi rhywbeth yn ôl.

Yn eu parti pen-blwydd priodas, gofynnodd y cwpl i ffrindiau a theulu ymuno â nhw i godi a***n ar gyfer yr uned trwy raffl a rhoddion yn lle anrhegion.

Bydd y rhodd i'n Elusen GIG Cwm Taf Morgannwg yn gwella cysur a gofal o fewn yr Uned Gofal Arbennig i Fabanod, gan helpu i ddarparu gwelliannau bach ond ystyrlon sy'n gwneud arhosiad yn yr ysbyty yn fwy addfwyn i deuluoedd a chefnogi lles staff ar hyd y ffordd.

Diolch eto Bryan a Ray ❤️

Welcome to the world, Wren 💙

Mam, Naomi, shares her heartfelt thanks to all the teams who supported her during her pregnancy and birth.

“I would like to thank all staff at YCR for all their care throughout my pregnancy, and a big thank you to our community midwife, Sophie, for all her care and support every step of the way!

“I had a low risk pregnancy throughout, but a week before my due date everything changed. A water birth at Tirion was no longer an option, and an induction at POW was scheduled. Deb at the induction ward welcomed me and all staff were brilliant and made me feel at ease.

“Shelly was phenomenal throughout my induction process. A c-section was needed, and this was something I was really petrified of having, but Shelly she made me feel calm and safe.

“Wren needed some help with feeding at SCBU, he was cared for so well by Danielle and student Jess. After 5 days in hospital for me and 2 for Wren we were ready to go home, Meg was brilliant at explaining everything before discharging us.

“I cannot recommend POW enough, thank you to all the staff.”

-------

Croeso i'r byd, Wren 💙

Mae Mam, Naomi, yn rhannu ei diolch o galon i'r holl dimau a'i cefnogodd yn ystod ei beichiogrwydd a'i genedigaeth.

“Hoffwn ddiolch i holl staff YCR am eu holl ofal drwy gydol fy meichiogrwydd, a diolch yn fawr iawn i’n bydwraig gymunedol, Sophie, am ei holl ofal a chefnogaeth bob cam o’r ffordd!

“Roedd fy meichiogrwydd yn un risg isel, ond wythnos cyn fy nyddiad geni newidiodd popeth. Nid oedd genedigaeth mewn dŵr yng Nghanolfan Tirion yn opsiwn mwyach, ac roedd rhai i ni drefnu’r proses o brysuro’r geni yn Ysbyty Tywysoges Cymru. Roedd Deb yn y ward prysuro'r geni yn fy nghroesawu i ac roedd yr holl staff yn wych ac yn gwneud i mi deimlo'n gyfforddus.

“Roedd Shelly yn ffantastig drwy gydol y broses. Roedd angen toriad Cesaraidd, ac roedd hyn yn rhywbeth roeddwn i wir yn ofni ei gael, ond fe wnaeth Shelly i mi deimlo'n dawel ac yn ddiogel.

“Roedd angen rhywfaint o help ar Wren gyda bwydo yn SCBU, cafodd ofal mor dda gan Danielle a’r fyfyrwraig Jess. Ar ôl 5 diwrnod yn yr ysbyty i mi a 2 i Wren roedden ni'n barod i fynd adref, roedd Meg yn wych am egluro popeth cyn ein rhyddhau.

“Ni allaf argymell POW ddigon, diolch i’r holl staff.”

💜The theme of this year’s Holocaust Memorial Day is ‘Bridging Generations’, encouraging all of us to actively engage with the past – listening, learning and carrying those lessons forward.

Our Chaplaincy team is marking Holocaust Memorial Day within the multi-faith rooms on each hospital site with a display, and are inviting patients, visitors and staff to tie a purple ribbon and come together, to remember persecutions of the past and stand against hatred and prejudice in the present.

Together we commemorate and educate for a better future.

💜Thema Dydd Cofio’r Holocost eleni yw ‘Pontio Cenedlaethau’, gan annog pob un ohonom i ymgysylltu â’r gorffennol yn weithredol - gwrando, dysgu, a chyflwyno’r gwersi hynny i’r dyfodol.

Mae ein tîm Caplaniaeth yn dathlu Dydd Cofio’r Holocost yn yr ystafelloedd aml-grefyddol ar bob safle gyda arddangosfa, ac maent yn gwahodd cleifion, ymwelwyr a staff i glymu rhuban porffor a dod ynghyd, i gofio erlidiau’r gorffennol, a sefyll yn erbyn casineb a rhagfarn yn y presennol.

Gyda’n gilydd rydym yn coffáu ac yn addysgu er dyfodol gwell.

We are expecting to see another incredibly busy weekend, which will be a challenge as our sites remain under exceptional pressure.

We are continuing to urge the public to please familiarise yourself with the other ways you can access care within the community, and to only attend our Emergency Departments in an emergency.

Emergencies include:

• Chest pain
• Difficulty breathing
• Signs of a stroke
• Severe bleeding
• Serious injuries or sudden collapse

If you are unsure of your condition, the NHS 111 Wales website can help. You can also call 111 to access the Out of Hours service and you can press option 2 to access urgent mental health support.

Some pharmacies are open over the weekend and may also be able to support patients with minor illnesses.

If you do need to attend our Emergency Departments, there will likely be extended waits to be seen if your condition is not considered urgent.

Our teams are working hard to provide care to those who need us most.

We thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

-------

Rydym yn disgwyl penwythnos prysur iawn arall, a fydd yn her gan fod ein safleoedd yn parhau i fod dan bwysau eithriadol.

Rydym yn parhau i annog y cyhoedd i ymgyfarwyddo â'r ffyrdd eraill y gallwch gael mynediad at ofal yn y gymuned, a dim ond mynychu ein Hadrannau Brys mewn argyfwng.

Mae argyfyngau'n cynnwys:

• Poen yn y frest
• Anhawster anadlu
• Arwyddion strôc
• Gwaedu difrifol
• Anafiadau difrifol neu gwympo sydyn

Os ydych yn ansicr o'ch cyflwr, gall gwefan GIG 111 Cymru helpu. Gallwch hefyd ffonio 111 i gael mynediad at y gwasanaeth Allan o Oriau a gallwch wasgu opsiwn 2 i gael mynediad at gymorth iechyd meddwl brys.

Mae rhai fferyllfeydd ar agor dros y penwythnos ac efallai y byddant hefyd yn gallu cefnogi cleifion â mân anhwylder.

Os oes angen i chi fynychu ein Hadrannau Brys, mae'n debyg y bydd arosiadau hirach i gael eich gweld os nad yw'ch cyflwr yn cael ei ystyried yn frys.

Mae ein timau'n gweithio'n galed i ddarparu gofal i'r rhai sydd fwyaf ein hangen.

Diolchwn i chi am eich dealltwriaeth a'ch cydweithrediad.

📌Latest Maesteg Hospital update

There is a lot of information circulating about the future of Maesteg Hospital.

If you haven’t yet seen the video of local GP Dr Geoff Smith, sharing the facts, watch it here. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2G6FQlrbFb0&feature=youtu.be

If you want to read those facts now, here is an at-a-glance summary of the most important points:

1. The health board has not taken any decisions to close Maesteg Hospital or sell the site. The hospital is not for sale and whatever the future holds for this important, much-loved building, will take into account the views of local people and the heritage of the site.

2. The health board wants to invest around £30 million pounds of new money into health and care services for Maesteg and the Llynfi Valley. It’s important that we use this once-in-a-lifetime investment in the right way to meet the future health and wellbeing needs of people living in the community.

3. We have listened and continue to listen to local people about what they need from NHS services in the future, including access to urgent care, more outpatients’ appointments provided locally, and more services for families and children.

4. Having already met with local people to hear their views we are committed to continuing to engage with communities to ensure they can be involved in what the future of healthcare in their area looks like.

5. Next week, we plan to meet with the elected representatives for Maesteg to ensure they have the opportunity to discuss with us the current and future plans for developing healthcare services in the area. This will include the Chair of the Maesteg Hospital League of Friends.

6. We are aware that a protest group has been set up and were disappointed that those responsible for coordinating this group had previously not responded to our offers of a meeting. Within the last 24-hours we have heard from the organisers and are now looking forward to having a full and factual discussion with them about health care service in Maesteg and the future of the hospital.

7. Local people who are anxious about the future deserve the facts and we will continue to meet with representatives and provide information through other means.

If you want to stay informed, with the very latest, regularly-updated information, visit our website: https://ctmuhb.nhs.wales/services/healthy-futures-maesteg/

📌Y wybodaeth ddiweddaraf am Ysbyty Maesteg

Mae llawer o wybodaeth yn cael ei rannu ar hyn o bryd am ddyfodol Ysbyty Maesteg.

Os nad ydych eto wedi gweld fideo’r Meddyg Teulu lleol, Dr Geoff Smith, yn egluro’r ffeithiau, gallwch ei wylio yma. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2G6FQlrbFb0&feature=youtu.be

Os hoffech ddarllen y ffeithiau’n syth, dyma grynodeb cyflym o’r pwyntiau pwysicaf:

1. Nid yw’r bwrdd iechyd wedi gwneud unrhyw benderfyniadau i gau Ysbyty Maesteg nac i werthu’r safle. Nid yw’r ysbyty ar werth, a beth bynnag fydd dyfodol yr adeilad pwysig a gwerthfawr hwn, bydd safbwyntiau pobl leol a threftadaeth y safle yn cael eu hystyried.

2. Mae’r bwrdd iechyd am fuddsoddi tua £30 miliwn o a***n newydd mewn gwasanaethau iechyd a gofal ar gyfer Maesteg a Dyffryn Llynfi. Mae’n bwysig ein bod yn defnyddio’r cyfle unigryw hwn yn y ffordd orau i ddiwallu anghenion iechyd a llesiant pobl y gymuned yn y dyfodol.

3. Rydym wedi gwrando, ac yn parhau i wrando, ar bobl leol ynghylch beth sydd ei angen arnynt gan wasanaethau’r GIG yn y dyfodol, gan gynnwys mynediad at ofal brys, mwy o apwyntiadau cleifion allanol yn lleol, a mwy o wasanaethau i deuluoedd a phlant.

4. Ar ôl cyfarfod eisoes â phobl leol i glywed eu barn, rydym wedi ymrwymo i barhau i ymgysylltu â chymunedau er mwyn sicrhau eu bod yn rhan o lunio dyfodol gofal iechyd yn eu hardal.

5. Yr wythnos nesaf, rydym yn bwriadu cyfarfod â chynrychiolwyr etholedig Maesteg er mwyn rhoi cyfle iddynt drafod y cynlluniau presennol, a’r cynlluniau ar gyfer datblygu gwasanaethau gofal iechyd yn y dyfodol gyda ni. Bydd hyn yn cynnwys Cadeirydd Cynghrair Cyfeillion Ysbyty Maesteg.

6. Rydym yn ymwybodol bod grŵp protest wedi’i sefydlu, ac roeddem yn siomedig nad oedd y rhai oedd yn cydlynu’r grŵp hwn wedi ymateb yn gynharach i’n cynigion i gyfarfod. O fewn y 24 awr ddiwethaf, rydym wedi clywed gan y trefnwyr ac rydym bellach yn edrych ymlaen at gael trafodaeth lawn a seiliedig ar ffeithiau gyda nhw am wasanaethau gofal iechyd ym Maesteg a dyfodol yr ysbyty.
7. Mae pobl leol sy’n pryderu am y dyfodol yn haeddu’r ffeithiau, a byddwn yn parhau i gyfarfod â chynrychiolwyr ac i rannu gwybodaeth drwy wahanol ddulliau.

Os hoffech gadw i fyny gyda’r wybodaeth ddiweddaraf, sy’n cael ei diweddaru’n rheolaidd, ewch i’n gwefan. https://ctmuhb.nhs.wales/services/healthy-futures-maesteg/

Did you know? Every year in Wales, over 300 people are admitted to hospital with chickenpox.

While most children recover quickly, some can become seriously ill. The MMRV vaccine helps protect your child from complications. Make sure your child attends their vaccine appointment.

A wyddoch chi? Mae dros 300 o bobl yn cael eu derbyn i'r ysbyty gyda brech yr ieir bob blwyddyn yng Nghymru.

Er bod y rhan fwyaf o blant yn gwella'n gyflym, gall rhai fynd yn sâl iawn. Mae'r brechlyn MMRV yn helpu i amddiffyn eich plentyn rhag cymhlethdodau. Gwnewch yn siŵr bod eich plentyn yn mynd i’w apwyntiad brechu.

20/01/2026

The situation across our hospital sites continues to be incredibly challenging and our colleagues are doing everything they can to ensure that those people in the most urgent need receive timely care.

Emergency Department Consultant, Dr Watson, urges the public to only attend the Emergency Departments across Cwm Taf Morgannwg in an emergency, and to consider the other healthcare options available to you.

These include:

🔗 Visiting the NHS 111 Wales website for advice, guidance and next steps on your condition
📞Calling 111 to access the Out of Hours service or for support with your symptoms
🧑‍⚕‍If your condition can wait, visiting your pharmacist, your GP practice or a Minor Injuries Department

Thank you.

-------

Mae'r sefyllfa ar draws ein safleoedd ysbytai yn parhau i fod yn heriol dros ben ac mae ein cydweithwyr yn gwneud popeth o fewn eu gallu i sicrhau bod y bobl hynny sydd â'r angen mwyaf brys yn derbyn gofal amserol.

Mae Dr Watson, Ymgynghorydd yr Adran Argyfwng, yn annog y cyhoedd i fynychu'r Adrannau Argyfwng ar draws Cwm Taf Morgan mewn argyfwng yn unig, ac i ystyried yr opsiynau gofal iechyd eraill sydd ar gael i chi.

Mae'r rhain yn cynnwys:

🔗 Ymweld â gwefan GIG 111 Cymru am gyngor, arweiniad a'r camau nesaf ar eich cyflwr
📞Ffonio 111 i gael mynediad at y gwasanaeth Allan o Oriau neu am gymorth gyda'ch symptomau
🧑‍⚕‍Os gall eich cyflwr aros, ymweld â'ch fferyllydd, eich meddygfa neu Adran Mân Anafiadau

Diolch.

19/01/2026

After a very busy weekend, all three hospital sites remain under significant pressure which is limiting the number of beds available for those who require urgent care and resulting in significant waits in the Emergency Departments.

⚠️Please only attend the Emergency Department if you have a serious or life-threatening emergency.

If your condition is urgent, but not life-threatening, you can:
🔗 Visit the NHS 111 Wales website for information, a service directory and guidance on healthcare conditions
👩‍⚕️ Contact your healthcare team in the community, like your pharmacist, optician or GP practice
Visit a minor injuries department
📞 Call 111 for advice and support or to access the Out of Hours Service
📞 111 and Press 2 for urgent mental health support

❗You should not attend an MIU if you have a major medical problem such as a suspected heart attack, chest pain, stroke, or severe injuries. To do this is extremely dangerous as the unit has no doctors and cannot treat you.

For all serious illness and injuries, you must go to an emergency department. If you do need to attend the Emergency Department, there may be a long wait to be seen.

Thank you.

Ar ôl penwythnos prysur iawn, mae'r tri safle ysbyty yn parhau i fod o dan bwysau sylweddol sy'n cyfyngu ar nifer y gwelyau sydd ar gael i'r rhai sydd angen gofal brys ac yn arwain at arosiadau sylweddol yn yr Adrannau Argyfwng.

⚠️Ewch i'r Adran Argyfwng yn unig os oes gennych argyfwng difrifol neu sy'n peryglu bywyd.

Os yw eich cyflwr yn frys, ond ddim yn fygythiad i fywyd, gallwch:
🔗 Mynd i wefan GIG 111 Cymru am wybodaeth, cyfeiriadur gwasanaethau a chanllawiau ar gyflyrau gofal iechyd
👩‍⚕‍ Cysylltu â'ch tîm gofal iechyd yn y gymuned, fel eich fferyllydd, optegydd neu feddygfa
Ymweld â'n Uned Mân Anafiadau (MIU).
📞 Ffonio 111 am gyngor a chymorth neu i gael mynediad at y Gwasanaeth y Tu Allan i Oriau
📞 Ffonio 111 a phwyso 2 am gymorth iechyd meddwl brys

❗Ni ddylech fynychu Uned Mân Anafiadau os oes gennych broblem feddygol fawr fel trawiad ar y galon, poen yn y frest, strôc neu anafiadau difrifol. Mae gwneud hyn yn hynod beryglus gan nad oes gan yr uned feddygon ac ni all eich trin.

Ar gyfer pob salwch ac anaf difrifol, rhaid i chi fynd i Adran Argyfwng. Os oes angen i chi fynychu'r Adran Argyfwng, efallai y bydd aros hir i gael eich gweld.

Diolch.
