Lily was a total star when volunteering at her first group workshop for bereaved children, run by our local hospice. She was quickly accepted into the group where she encouraged the children to participate in therapeutic activities, reassured those who were feeling anxious and comforted those who found it very emotional. At the end, she was rewarded by one child donating her their comfort Teddy 🧸 💗💗🥰

Lily has proved herself a total 🌟on her first time supporting bereaved children at a 2-day workshop organised by our local hospice. She was quickly accepted by the group of children, joined in their activities, encouraged their participation and comforted them when things got emotional. At the end she was presented with her own comfort Teddy by one of the children. 💗💗

Autumn has arrived with a rush, bringing darker evenings, wetter days and stormy weather. This can limit our activity and affect our mood. However, nature compensates with beautiful colours and plentiful harvests. Personally, I find there's much to love about autumn, especially when you get a rosy sunset to round off a fine day...

Visitors to Equilibrium Therapy HQ over the next few weeks will be treated to seeing a craftsman in action as our thatcher works his magic re-thatching part of our roof. Delighted that we've managed to source straw from a grower based less than 15 miles away - it doesn't get much more sustainable than that!

Seeing this indelible image 24 years later is still so emotional. The canine heroes of 9/11 are rightly honoured for their bravery and resilience and the critical role they played in rescue, recovery and comforting those who were caught up in that terrible event.

On September 11, 2001, when the towers fell and the sky turned to ash, more than 300 search and rescue dogs stepped into hell on earth. They didn’t hesitate. They didn’t flinch. They climbed through fire and steel, through suffocating debris and deafening silence, searching for life with every breath, every pawstep, every heartbeat.

They entered with pure hearts and fearless resolve—no armor, no agenda, just the unshakable instinct to help. They worked until their pads split, until the air burned their lungs, until their handlers broke down and hope ran dry. And still, they kept going. Because that’s what heroes do.

When the searching stopped, the therapy dogs arrived. Quiet. Steady. Healing. They didn’t need words. They curled beside the broken, leaned into the grief, and reminded shattered humans that love hadn’t died in the dust.

These beautiful dogs didn’t just serve. They bore the weight of our sorrow. They carried our hope. They were the silent saints of Ground Zero—unspoken, unshaken, unforgettable.

We don’t just remember them. We thank them. For their courage. For their comfort. For showing us, in our darkest hours, what selfless devotion truly looks like.

To the hero dogs of 9/11: your legacy lives on in every rescue, every comfort, every life saved because you showed up when it mattered most.

We will never forget. We will always be grateful. Godspeed, brave souls. ❤️🤍💙

Here in Somerset our climate is generally mild and moist for most of the year. This year has been exceptionally dry from March onwards and at times, during June and July, exceptionally hot. Our pasture is really suffering now. There has been zero grass growth since we cut our hay in mid June but we're so thankful we cut it early before it just dried up. Fortunately our ponies are still doing well with supplementary feed and hay but I really sympathise with those keeping horses on the East side of the country which is even drier than we are. Hope everyone is coping there and in all areas which are facing drought conditions.

Recent comments by the Princess of Wales have highlighted the emotional challenges faced by people once their clinical cancer treatment has ended. As the full enormity of your cancer diagnosis hits home, there is sadly no guaranteed support for dealing with that from the NHS and it can feel like sink or swim. It is often left to charities or private therapists like myself to fill that gap. If you are currently feeling overwhelmed by your cancer experience, my gentle horses and I may be able to help, or I could signpost you to other support.

It was a pleasure to offer a day of relaxation and nurturing to fellow therapists in the tranquil setting of , kindly hosted and co-facilitated by Michaela. Participants reported feeling calm and refreshed at the end of a day of gentle reflection and connection with self, each other and nature. The herd provided its own support and was particularly responsive to the drumming that concluded the day.
