After years of trauma and stored emotion… someone once said to me: “You get so used to feeling like crap, you think it’s normal.”

That hit me. Hard.💥

I’m not sharing this to sell anything — I’m sharing it because it’s the reason I got into massage therapy.

I’ve lived in a body that felt constantly tense. Tight shoulders, clenched jaw, aching back… I still do but I am working on it......🙏🏻

But the truth is — our bodies hold on to things... Stress, overwhelm, emotion — it doesn’t just sit in your mind, it settles in your muscles.

You know the saying “carrying the weight of the world on your shoulders”?
There’s a reason that phrase exists. Because that’s exactly where so many of us feel it. 💭🧳

Massage became a way for me — and now my clients — to let go...Not always in some big emotional moment, but in small, powerful ways:

✨ A deep breath that finally feels full
✨ Shoulders dropping without forcing it
✨ A jaw that isn’t clenched for once
✨ That feeling of space in your own body again

It’s not about being “fixed” — it’s about creating moments where your body doesn’t have to carry so much. And those moments matter.

Been out of the loop with things for a while but had a wonderful client in tonight ☺️
Safe to say I remembered exactly WHY I do this.....❤️
Love seeing people "massage drunk" as it means I have done my job as a massage therapist 🥰 plus you dont get the hangover 🤪

So......I thought I would take the opportunity to explain just what the term massage drunk means.....

💆‍♀️ If you have ever felt a little “loopy” after a massage...like you just floated off the table, forgot your name, and walked into a wall? Congrats—you’ve been massage drunk. 😵‍💫

But don’t worry—it’s totally normal, and here’s why:

🧠 Your brain is chillin’. Massage triggers your parasympathetic nervous system (aka your rest and digest mode), lowering stress hormones like cortisol and increasing feel-good ones like serotonin and dopamine.

💨 Oxygen + circulation boost. As your muscles relax and circulation improves, your brain gets more oxygen—and sometimes that sudden boost can leave you feeling light-headed or dreamy.

🫀 Blood pressure + heart rate drop. Your body enters a deeply relaxed state, and that drop can make you feel a bit “floaty” or slow.

🧼 Toxin release - The body releases metabolic waste during massage—like lactic acid and urea out of tissues and into the bloodstream for the kidneys and liver to process. This could add to the temporary woozy feeling.

🥱 You’re THAT relaxed. Sometimes, your body just isn’t used to slowing down. So when it finally gets the chance, it feels like you’ve been hit with a bliss bomb.

Massage drunk = deeply relaxed, slightly dazed, and 100% worth it.

Pro tip: Drink water, take it slow, and enjoy the afterglow. Your body is thanking you.
