🎤🎈John’s 87th Birthday at Half Acre House Care Home🎈🎤

We had an absolute blast celebrating John’s 87th birthday! We loved watching John open his presents, and his tears of appreciation had us all feeling emotional. The fun continued with karaoke in the lounge, and John enjoying a slice of his delicious lemon cake… yum!🍰🍋

To make the day extra special, residents were treated to a small glass of wine or lager, which everyone very much enjoyed.🍷🍺

John told us, “Thank you so much, this has been the best day of my life,” which was such a heartwarming moment and meant the world to us.

Happy 87th Birthday, John! We hope you enjoyed it just as much as the rest of us did.🎉😊

🎨✨New Year Creativity at Botham Hall Care Home!✨🎨

Our residents got creative painting some lovely New Year pictures!

Kath, who is 100 years old, is a fabulous painter. She did incredibly well and was completely focused on her masterpiece.💖🎉

Mary was drawn to the green shiny paint, saying it looked very fancy. Maureen opted for nice bright colours to really make her artwork pop! 🌈

Mary had everyone laughing when she proudly said, “I hope my fantastic picture will be put on display!” 😄🖼️

A wonderful, colourful way to start the New Year at Botham Hall!🌈💖

🎉🎂Kath's 100th Birthday at Botham Hall Care Home!🎂🎉

Kath enjoyed a lovely visit from her son and daughter, who spoilt her with gifts and flowers. There was great excitement as Kath proudly showed off her birthday card from The King! She said it made her feel very special to receive a card from the King and Queen.👑💌

Our residents gathered together to sing a round of Happy Birthday, and everyone agreed they were very much looking forward to enjoying some delicious birthday cake!🍰😄

🐾A Pawsome Visit at Wansbeck Care Home!🐾

On Saturday we were delighted to welcome the lovely Kathryn and her therapy dog Otis from Wag & Co to meet our residents here at Wansbeck. As a very dog-friendly home, visits like this always bring lots of smiles!

Our residents thoroughly enjoyed the cuddles and company, and Otis is an absolutely gorgeous dog who seemed to enjoy his visit just as much as we did.🐶✨

Our Wellbeing Lead Alex shared that pet therapy always goes down really well in the home, and residents especially love meeting a new furry friend. We’re already looking forward to seeing much more of Kathryn and Otis in the coming weeks. 🥰🐾

🎉Games and Fitness at Half Acre House!🎉

We had a whole day packed with games and fitness! The morning kicked off with a long game of Monopoly, then in the afternoon it was all about exercise! We enjoyed a hilarious egg and spoon race, a throwing game, and had lots of fun with some weights!🥚💪

A really fun day spent laughing, competing, and enjoying each other’s company. We certainly know how to make exercise fun!😄💖

🍫Baking at Half Acre House!🍫

We put our baking skills to the test with some delicious rice crispy and cornflake cakes. Thanks to funds from our raffles and tombola, we were able to get wonderfully messy with melted chocolate for this activity!😋

We started by gathering our tools and ingredients, and by the end, we had created a colourful batch of tasty cakes. Our residents had so much fun with this activity! Baking is a firm favourite here, especially when it ends with enjoying our yummy treats alongside a 2 o’clock cuppa.💖☕

🐾🎄Spreading Christmas Cheer with Westview Lodge Care Home🎄🐾

Home Manager Tracy and our Wellbeing Lead Steven enjoyed a few hours out and about with our lovely Val, delivering donations to Durham Dogs & Cats Home in Coxhoe. We dropped off tasty treats for the animals, warm snuggly blankets, and some toys to help make Christmas extra special for the dogs and cats waiting for their forever homes.🐶🐱

Val said it felt good to give something back at this time of year, as the animals deserve a Christmas too.💖✨

Of course, no trip out would be complete without a cheeky latte and mince pie from Greggs on the way home! ☕🥧

🎨🌸 Creative Fun at Half Acre House 🌸🎨

A few of our residents got stuck into a wonderfully messy art session, painting flowers using sponges, paint brushes and glitter. We may have got a little messy, but it was absolutely worth it for the fun we had and the beautiful creations we made.🎨🖌

Once the paintings are fully dry, we’ll be proudly displaying them on our walls so everyone can admire the fantastic artwork. Well done to our budding artists!😊💖
