UNPROCESSED vs ULTRAPROCESSED🍓🥗🥚

I have made a conscious effort this year to eat less ultra processed foods and focused on more unprocessed/minimally processed foods after reading Ultra Processed People 🤓

An unprocessed/minimally processed food is considered a food which has not any sort of chemical treatment to preserve it or improve the taste and appearance like eggs, fruit/veg, fish and pulses.

An ultra processed food has been altered in some way which uses more than one ingredient which you wouldn’t usually find in the kitchen, such as preservatives, emulsifies, sweeteners and artificial colours, such as crisps, cereal, biscuits, prepackaged bread and fake meat.

Things I have noticed since making this change are:
• more energy
• fuller for longer
• less bloating
• better digestion
• cheaper food shops

Easy switches I made:
• Switching pre-made protein yoghurts to plain Greek yoghurt 🥄
• Packaged bread -> fresh sourdough🍞
• Eating fruit/vegetables instead of cereal bars🍓🥭
• Homecooked meals every weekday evening👩🏻‍🍳
• Pre prepped lunches reducing the purchase of meal deals🥪
• Swapping fake meat for tofu, fish or meat🐟

I still have ultra processed foods (I am a normal human being), just a lot less than before! Give me a shout if you want more information or food suggestions. Try it for the week and let me know how it goes📧

WE HAVE MOVED! 📍🏡

Three weeks living in our new home and it’s consisted of:
• lots DIY and painting🎨🔨
• going back to work👩🏻‍🏫
• surf🏄🏻‍♀️
• beach trips☀️
• eating good food🤤 (in between the meals eaten on the carpet, how long until we get a dining table😅)

Life is dreamy☀️🥰

It’s BANK HOLIDAY🥳

Drink the beer ( everytime), eat good food, have brunch with friends, have a drink by the river or beach and enjoy yourself!

One weekend won’t harm your progress.

By Tuesday you may feel heavier and the scales may go up but it is water weight - drinking more and eating less nutritious food means your body retains more water. Gradually over the next few days your body will return to ‘normal’ and you’ll realise you haven’t gained any fat (at most one fifth of a pound*)

Return to your normal diet on Tuesday and remember all the fun you had over the weekend🥳

A perfect meal for a summer evening☀️

• 20 minutes⏰
• Low in calories👌🏽
• High in protein and carbs💪🏽
• Deliciously good🤤

Chinese five spice fish with peanut and sesame rice:
1. Drizzle fish in olive oil and cover with Chinese five spice. Put in the oven for 20 minutes or until flaky.
2. Fry baby corn, sugarsnap peas and edamame in sesame oil until cooked.
3. Mix the vegetables with cooked microwave rice and set aside.
4. Add 2tsp boiling water to 1tsp of peanut butter and mix until smooth and runny. Add sesame oil, soy sauce and chilli flakes to the peanut butter.
5. Stir half the sauce into the rice and vegetables.
6. Top the rice with the cooked fish and drizzle over the rest of the sauce.
7. Sit in the sunshine and eat☀️

We LOVE carbs!

Carbs:
• are good for you and necessary in a healthy balanced diet.
• should make up between 45-65% of your total calorie intake.
• there are 4kcals in one gram of carbohydrates.
• the main source of fuel for your body.
• a source of fibre.
• keep you full throughout the day.

⬆️Spicy prawn linguine🌶️🍤
1. Fry onion, 5 cloves of garlic, one red chilli.
2. Add a tin of tomatoes and sundried tomato or chilli oil. Add a splash of pasta water and simmer for 5 minutes.
3. Add the prawns and simmer for another 5 minutes.
4. Mix in the cooked linguine, ensuring the pasta is coated in the sauce.
5. Serve with grated parmesan👌🏽

Give this high protein (and nutritiously balanced with carbs and fats) bagel a try to keep you full and fuelled throughout the day⬇️
