Our peace-of-mind services ensure that daily tasks are completed, encouraging a joyful and fulfilling life at home. This support encourages confidence and freedom, enabling seniors to embrace their desired lifestyle. We recognize the value of having a friendly and trusted companion to talk to. We go above and beyond in helping with daily activities. When it comes to companionship, our aim is always to put a smile on someone’s face. As people get older, they may experience changes in their physical abilities, health, and social connections. Seniors often struggle with issues such as isolation and limited mobility, which can greatly affect their overall well-being. In such situations, companion care is crucial for improving seniors’ quality of life and supporting their emotional and mental health. Social interaction can be vital in preventing isolation and loneliness in the elderly

The Alzheimer's Society states that social isolation can lead to an increased risk of developing dementia. It relates to whether a person lives alone, and whether they see friends and family regularly or engage in social or community activities. Social isolation can increase a person’s risk of dementia by about 60%, so it can be vital to reduce-your-risk-of-dementia/social-isolation

It's important to emphasise that social isolation and loneliness are not the same. Loneliness is about our inner feelings and how we perceive our circumstances. When a companion visits seniors in their homes, they can assist with various tasks, such as:

Social Interaction: Having a companion can bring so much joy and empathy throughout the week. Spending quality time together, engaging in heartfelt conversations, playing board games, and taking part in social events and clubs can truly make a difference in brightening your days. Other Activities: Engage in activities that bring joy and relaxation, such as reading out loud, watching movies, researching family history, crafting, scrapbooking and accompanying seniors on short walks or outings. Emotional Support: A companion is there to listen, understand, and encourage, providing comfort and reassurance when it's needed most. Pet care: We understand how important it is for you to provide the best care for your pets. We're here to help with feeding, watering, exercising, and grooming to ensure your pets receive the love and care they deserve. Medication reminders: We kindly provide gentle prompts and reminders to help seniors remember to take their medications as prescribed. Assistance with Daily Tasks:
Assisting with light housekeeping, laundry, ironing, ensuring fresh bed linen, and attending to the senior's comfort at home by plumping pillows, adjusting heating, and organizing for their needs. Meal Preparation:
To encourage healthy eating habits by preparing light, nutritious meals. It's essential to ensure that they are eating well, so I understand the importance of encouraging healthy eating. Shopping assistance:
I understand that it may be challenging to manage errands, shopping trips, and prescription pickups. I'm here to assist with running errands, help with weekly shopping, and pick up prescriptions. Transportation:
Driving clients to medical appointments or social activities

Travel Arrangements:
Accompanying your loved ones on visits with family and friends. Helping to plan and accompany the senior on journeys to alleviate any concerns about travelling long distances. Safety and well-being:
Being vigilant for signs of distress or health concerns and reporting them promptly. Communication:
Creating meaningful and lasting connections with family members, healthcare professionals, and support teams to ensure the best possible care and support for our loved ones.

SOCIAL CONNECTIONS

Keeping up our ties to friends and family and participating in social activities may help us stay sharp as we age, according to the Global Council on Brain Health.

"Please keep in mind the following advice stated by Age. UK

Staying connected with friends and family can help maintain thinking skills as we age.

It's common for our social circles to get smaller as we grow older, but there are steps we can take to enhance the quality of our relationships.

Consider joining a club, class, or social group to meet new people. Focus on activities and relationships that bring you joy.

If you've lost touch with others, take small steps to reconnect. Utilizing computer-based communication can be helpful for both expanding your social circle and staying in touch with current contacts."

My story

The creation of my Business Caring Companion Sussex service is the embodiment of my story and the passion behind it.

"Hello, my name is Michelle Kelly.

In my 40s, I took care of my dad, who had dementia, and my mum during her final years battling cancer, along with a brain tumour that affected her mental capacity. Unfortunately, I lost both of them to these terrible diseases.

After their passing, I returned to work at a care home, realizing that was where I needed to be. I spent 3 years there and enjoyed being around the elderly and making lovely friends.

Later, I opened a business providing cleaning and companionship services, called Trusted House Cleaners. However, due to my reputation and word of mouth, the cleaning side of the business took off, and I had no space in my life for the companionship side.

I missed the communication and connection with people, especially the elderly. Realizing that my heart and soul lie in providing companionship to seniors, I decided to let go of the cleaning business and focus on what brings me joy and fulfilment.

Having always been passionate about helping people, I decided to transform my passion into a much-needed service for our community, and thus Caring Companion Sussex Service was born."

I wanted to share the story behind my company name as a tribute to my late brother Gary.

Originally, my company name would be "Caring Companion in Sussex Service," inspired by my late brother Gary, who affectionately called me "siss." When I shortened it to cciss for my email address, I realized I had to keep this name. To simplify things for email purposes and to prevent seniors or family members from making typos errors when trying to reach me, I further shortened it to "CCSS."

My email address is michelleccss@yahoo.com
