Hi!

I'm an MSc Psychology student currently conducting a study on retroactive jealousy, which refers to feeling distressed or jealous about a partner’s past romantic or sexual relationships.

If you're over 18, fluent in English, and have experienced this kind of jealousy (either currently or in the past), I’d love for you to take part in my research.

• The study explores retroactive jealousy through the lens of personality and emotional experiences.
• It’s all online, anonymous, and takes about 30 minutes to complete.
• No personal details are collected other than age and gender.
• Participation is completely voluntary.

Please note: The survey includes questions on potentially sensitive topics, including emotional regulation, interpersonal relationships, identity and self-concept, and general responses to perceived rejection. If you find that the content causes discomfort, you may withdraw at any time by simply closing your browser. You are under no obligation to participate.

This study is being conducted as part of my MSc dissertation and may be submitted for academic publication. Your participation could help advance understanding in this underresearched area.

To participate, please follow this link: https://research.sc/participant/login/dynamic/D503419C-26C3-4504-A4D7-B0C4109B3542 or use the QR code on the poster.

If you've ever got a call or email from a client saying that things got worse, you know that something was missing from your protocol.

You've not warned them about the processing time.

Processing starts in the session, but it doesn't end there; it can continue for weeks, when the client's habits and daily rhythm can be disrupted before it settles down, and the resources are chosen.

Of course, you also need to be able to distingush between what is a sign of processing or of not having dealt with every aspect of the underlying issue.

The important thing now is to remember to talk about processing and prime them about the time bridge that might be somewhat chaotic, but things will settle down, and you're there to support them through it, if they need it.

Just because someone books a session with you doesn’t mean they’re ready to dive in.

Resistance can still show up, even if they’ve paid, if they’re on Zoom, or if they say they want the change.

So what’s the usual response?

Start the script. Go into induction. Try to “get them under.” Push through.

But here’s the problem:
That traditional approach tells your client what to do, but most people don’t like being told what to do.

So what do they do instead?

Push back. Resist. Shut down.

Advanced Conversational Hypnosis (ACH) works differently.
❌ There’s no script.
❌ No command.
❌ No “do as I say.”

Instead, it’s a genuine exploration. A real-time conversation.

The trance doesn’t need to be forced. It shows up naturally as you explore unconscious material together.

You don’t fight resistance because there’s nothing to fight.
You’re working with the client, not on them.

💬 Curious what it feels like to work this way? It’s a complete shift, and it changes everything.

Do you give your hypnosis or coaching clients a lot of homework?

- hypnosis recording
- meditation recording
- journalling
- EFT tapping
- somatic exercises

What if I told you that all of this is not only unnecessary, but it can disrupt the natural process of emotional healing?

It could disrupt processing, which is when the greatest resources are found and solidified.

Conventional courses teach you to end your session by giving homework, maybe even creating a mini routine.

Whilst it is a great idea to give one minimal task (I'll talk about the best task you could ever give to get maximum results later), overwhelming the client with more things to do limits them.

The best resources your clients can find are within themselves. If you've done a good enough job during the session, the processing will take care of the rest.

Resistance isn't a bad sign.

It's entirely human to feel resistant to a technique, to someone else's view, or to being told what to do.

The client sitting in therapy wants the transformation, but they also have every right to be sceptical and cautious.

Especially when they've seen several other practitioners, which is usually the case with hypnosis clients who probably have experienced many conventional interventions, but did not get a resolution.

Belief in the power of the client's ability to create the transformation they're seeking and curiosity will help work with them, regardless of the resistance.

If, however, the resistance is there in the discovery call, you need to have a system in place to decide whether they are ready to work with you now or might benefit from doing something else before they take that step.

🚀 Want to speed up your hypnotherapy results?

Here’s the paradox most therapists don’t see coming:
If you want to go faster, you’ve got to slow down.

Not lazily or passively, but in a deeply focused, attentive, and human way.
You see, in advanced conversational hypnotherapy, we’ve done away with all the fluff.

No inductions. No deepeners. No rigid techniques. No dragging the client through rehearsed scripts or guesswork.

Instead, we return to the essence of transformation:
🌀 Presence.
🌀 Curiosity.
🌀 Flexibility.

We don’t treat the client like a case study or a symptom. We treat them like a person.

A real person, with a real story, and real unconscious patterns that emerge in real time, if you’re paying attention.

That’s where the real work is. That’s where the change happens.

And the more space you give it, the faster it flows.

Strange, isn’t it? That the shortest path often feels like the slowest, until it works.

This is conversational hypnotherapy.
It’s elegant. Minimal. Effective.

And it’s quietly transforming how more and more of us are working.

If something in this feels like home.

Do you sometimes get clients who think the solution is changing someone else?

They sit in your office or on Zoom and start blaming others: a loved one, a partner, a family member, a colleague...

You immediately know that you cannot help. But how do you deal with it?
With ACH, some powerful options bring the focus back on the individual.

You could stare at them and smile. This creates tension.

You can be more explicit and ask how you can help them, after all, they booked in with you.

Of course, as ACH starts with a discovery call, you can also decide whether a potential client.

The important thing is that you have choices, and once you've mastered ACH, dealing with such things won't fill you with dread but instead they'll make you even more curious.

Is priming your hypnosis clients really necessary?

You'll know we do things differently if you’ve trained in Advanced Conversational Hypnosis (ACH).

One question I hear a lot is: “Should I be priming my clients before we begin?”

And my answer is:
Not unless you have a specific reason.
ACH is built on a minimalist therapeutic approach.
No fluff.
No unnecessary pre-talk.

We don’t rely on priming because when hypnosis is skilfully conversational, your client is already where they need to be. No extra steps are required.
But there are exceptions.

Clients with a history of trauma or those in chronic pain may enter trance states where the nervous system activates in overwhelming ways. You might find that your niche is particularly prone to abstractions.

If that is the case, priming your clients at the beginning of the session can be beneficial:
🌿 “The chair is keeping you safe.”
🌿 “Notice your feet on the ground. You're here, safe, in the present.”

ACH teaches you to do this elegantly, without scripts or awkward rituals.
It’s not about doing more. It’s about doing what works. Cleverly, precisely, and compassionately.

👉 Curious about how ACH handles these edge cases? Let’s talk.

Are you giving your clients what they need or what they want based on the symptoms?

Results of therapy and coaching can be summarised as regaining a sense of choice and agency to make those choices.

Your clients come to you feeling stuck, which generates emotional and cognitive pain.

Their narratives are fragmented.
The logic in their thinking is flawed.
They have unfelt and unexpressed emotions that they might feel threatened by.
And there’s a good dose of confusion.

Your clients want out of this maze, and they think they know what the real problem is.

But you know if that were true, they would have silenced it. They wouldn’t be sitting in front of you.

You know what they need: going deeper, making the unconscious conscious.
Instead of talking about the perceived problem or assumptions about potential root causes, you look for unconscious moments: glimpses into where the transformation can take place.

Giving choice back happens when you can take your clients beyond the symptoms and beyond the conscious.

🌿 How do you know the work actually landed?

In advanced conversational hypnosis, one of the most powerful tools we use is testing. Not necessarily at the very end, but as part of the session itself.

Testing gives you clarity:
Has the change happened?

Or is there something deeper still holding the issue in place?

Let’s say you specialise in social anxiety. In the strategy call, you identify real-life triggers: specific situations where the anxiety shows up. These become your reference points.

Then, during the session, once the work has been done, you revisit those scenarios.
What happens when...?
What if...?

If new material comes up, that’s not a problem. It’s an opportunity!

You pause the test and create a “mini session” to explore and resolve what’s left.
That way, by the time the session ends, the client isn’t just feeling “a bit better.”

They’re walking away with a true sense of completion.

That’s how you reduce repeat sessions, by doing the real work the first time around.
