Day 26 of

The sun is out and you can thank me! I just finished my so it’s now going to get really warm! 😆

I have been in love with this design since I first saw it and debated making it in a cheaper yarn than the one recommended but then my lovely husband bought me the and I chose this stunning blue, green and purple. All my favourite colours in one yarn! I want to wear it all the time now. It’s such a beautiful design.

designs the most beautiful patterns! I have to say, some of my favourite knitwear designers are Danish. The Danes do good knits!

I find the instructions a little tricky at first but with the help of my sister who also made one, I was off. It’s a lovely one to knit and quite fast (if you don’t make mistakes that need to be ripped back like I did!). Thank you all who helped with the buttons. The green were the favourite but turned out to be too small so purple it is.

A year!

I’ve been working on this one, on and off, for just over a year. It’s a pattern from the book by and it’s knitted in and

It has been a labour of love, getting every stitch in the pattern right but it was so enjoyable to work on. The colour of the pale blue kidsilk is very hard to capture but I love it with this emerald green.

I might be the only person now hoping for a little more cold weather.

Finished knitting this beauty. If the weather gets suddenly very warm next week, you’ll know I have finished blocking and sewing this one up. It’s been on my needles for over a year but I’ve loved coming back to it on and off. Looking forward to sharing once it’s blocked.

Finished this before Christmas and finally got around to blocking it. It’s a and it’s a really simple design but block the twisted stitch. I knitted it on a 3.25mm for a much closer knit and a smaller scarf. The beautiful blue and yellow flecked yarn was by and it’s so deliciously soft. The bright yellow is a perfect match and is doing a lot to lift my home schooling mood today! @ Brighton and Hove

Got my knitting mojo back in a big way and I’m obsessed with adding kid silk to everything at the moment. This is some left over kid silk and merino. As a knitter I don’t have one single nice wooly hat so I’m finally knitting one. This is so pretty and the yarn combo is so soft to knit with. Can’t put this one down!

. I’ve had two days of sewing so far this weekend (not constantly but that’s still great for me) and today we’re having breakfast in bed. My boys asked to look at knitting books so we’re looking for animals for me to knit. That along with croissant and chocolate spread is my idea of heaven!

Day 4 of is . I have good habits and bad habits but I’m trying to build some useful ones into my practice. Habit 1: my husband works from home at the beginning of the week and uses my desk so every Wednesday I try to set up my space again with a project ready next to the machine. That way I feel like I can just start whenever I get some time to sew. Also, my machine looks way better than an empty space. Habit 2: I’m working on is recording. I try to photograph stages of my makes now and keep notes for my blog. This makes it much easier to sit down and write after. Habit 3: I never ever sew without my iron. I started my adult sewing journey, I sewed quite a bit in my teens (badly), with quilting and it really does teach you some great habits! Every seam gets pressed! Habit 4: I always have a good podcast ready to go. I love .podcast , , but in a non-sewing vein I love .co (see postcard on my board!) and podcast is amazing!!!

Rainy days, a poorly little boy, too much CBeebies and a bit of knitting. That’s my day. I rarely just sit and knit these days but I’ve had an hour or so today and it’s bliss! Working on my in some of spun blue and yellow yarn with bright yellow. The photo doesn’t do the colours justice at all. It’s a lovely simple pattern to give me something easy to alternate with my other big project.

Feeling like getting something new on my needles. Lost my knitting mojo a little with a very long term project. Looking through my stash and I didn’t look far! I have wanted to knit this beautiful blue with yellow fleck from my sister along with some stunning yellow which she also gifted me which is from I found a simple design to show off my two favourite colours and do them justice. I’ll knit the by letipanda on Ravelry. Check out website for beautiful hand dyed yarn. I’m biased but she’s super talented! @ Brighton and Hove

Grading between sizes of my chandler pants and having a coffee from my new mug! A very special friend bought me this mug the other day, saying she saw it and had to get it for me. It’s one of very many kind things she has done for me over the years. We met when I started teaching and we worked in the same year group. She was a lot more experienced than I was and took me under her wing. In my first year we both went through some personal difficulties, including my mum being diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer’s in her 50s. We bonded and looked out for each other. Since my boys were born she has helped with them, bought them presents and made many beautiful gifts. My mum passed away last year and I miss her terribly. H has for a long time been like a surrogate mum and I’m so grateful to have my ‘Brighton Mum’!
