We are not just talking heads. But we are SO GOOD at making like we are (thanks schooling). We are complex systems. Expressions of consciousness, plugged into the entire field of our existence: inheritance, nature, environment, culture, community… 

While traditional therapy has its place, of course, by its very nature, it largely leaves out the body, the nervous system, the ‘beyond-language’ of the system as it shows up moment to moment. 

To transform pain, stuckness, grief etc and to disrupt the habitual running of our identity engine, a truly holistic approach is needed. One that incorporates mind, body AND spirit/energy/heart.

This has been my experience and is the experience for the majority of the people I work with. It has taken me decades of working with my own chronic pain and the pain of others to learn and apply a combination of the most powerful therapies and techniques I found. This is what I offer in our sessions. Among others, Parts Work (Internal Family Systems), Pain-Reprocessing-Therapy and fascia release in combination with lifestyle-changes are the ones that facilitate powerful transformation at multiple levels. It’s a rare combination because of the particular path I have been on. I’d love to share it with you, whether online or in-person.

🫠Once pain has been around for a while it can start to be really difficult to imagine life without it.

👣But that’s exactly the right place to start.

🧠Whether your chronic condition is a ‘psychological’ pain or a physical one actually makes very little difference to how we work together.

What makes the difference is how ready you are to interrupt the automated loops - physical, mental and emotional - and choose again. And again. Choose the outcome you want to align with, not the habit of your identity that is anchored to the past.

The reason Parts Work is so effective for transforming out of chronic pain, chronic fatigue and any unwanted yet repeating patterns is because it helps us see which part we’re over-identifying with. Usually a manager part (lifeguard). The managers job is to ensure whatever happened (the thing that caused hurt, shame, rage, pain) never happens again. The effort that takes can be exhausting and cause pain, OCD, fatigue, inner-critic in overdrive etc etc. IFS and pain-reprocessing-therapy work beautifully together to give you the experience of enmeshing from a part or the pain and becoming the Self (the sky, ocean, lightning conductor). And realising that for the Self there is no shame, rage, humiliation. There is no drowning, misbehaving, overreaching. And from that space, real change is possible.
