We were honoured to attend the recent open day at The Downs Crematorium, where families and professionals came together to explore the thoughtful services offered in our local community.

One of the most talked-about features of the day was our rainbow hearse — a vibrant and heartfelt tribute that reminds us: funerals can be just as unique and personal as the lives they celebrate.

We are heartbroken to announce the passing of Joseph Richard Gherardi. Joe was a loving husband, father, family member and friend. He lived a remarkable life, and his warmth, kindness and unwavering support for his community touched the lives of so many. His legacy will live on in the countless memories he created with his family and friends.

A Dream Realised at 20 Years Old 🕊️

At just 20, I made the decision to open my own funeral home — not because it was easy, but because I knew in my heart this is what I was meant to do.

From day one, I’ve worked hard to do things the right way — with care, respect, and real attention to the families I serve. Every detail matters, because every life matters. I take pride in doing everything myself — from the first phone call to the final farewell — making sure each service is personal, meaningful, and handled with dignity.

Owning and running a funeral home at a young age hasn’t been without its challenges, but I’m incredibly proud to be standing on my own two feet, doing what I love, and supporting my community during some of its hardest moments.

Thank you to everyone who has supported me on this journey. This is just the beginning.
