Our next Sunday Stroll will be on Sunday 8th March.

This is a survivor-led, peer support walk and facilitated by two females, one of us is transgender and presents as male.

The walk is a safe space to talk about anything you want to talk about. Politics, trauma, relationships, trans stuff, cute dogs. No topic is off limits.

A few women have expressed interest in coming on a UK retreat.

We’ve been focussing on our Greece retreats because ☀️ and 🏖️ but we know it’s a long way to travel.

If enough women are up for a UK retreat we will happily put on another one!

Sisters Heal retreats are therapeutic, women only spaces. We offer individual EMDR trauma therapy and shiatsu massage alongside group activities, wellness and art. Our UK retreat venue has a hot tub 🛁

Both shared and private rooms available from £450-£950 including all meals and therapeutic avtivities.

Are you in? If so comment ‘YAY UK’ and if there’s enough of you we’ll make it happen 🥰

Update on how we're keeping women safe:

Sisters Heal was set up to provide women with the option of single s*x suppport. We recognise there is a huge unmet need in Brighton & Hove and we're here to fill that gap.

Under the Equality Act 2010, the provision of single-s*x services is not only lawful but explicitly permitted where it is a proportionate means of achieving a legitimate aim. This includes, in particular, services for survivors of s*xual violence and trauma. This position has very recently been clarified again in the Supreme Court, confirming that s*x in the Equality Act refers to biological s*x and that single-s*x services are lawful and protected where they meet these criteria.

This is not a matter of “belief” or ideology. It is a matter of statutory safeguarding and lawful service provision for a highly vulnerable group.

Sisters Heal exists specifically for female survivors of s*xual trauma. The clinical rationale is well established:

- Many female survivors have been harmed by male bodies, male voices, male presence, or male physicality.
- Trauma responses are not cognitive or ideological; they are nervous-system based. Survivors cannot simply “reason” themselves into feeling safe.
- For many women, the presence of male-bodied people in intimate, body-based therapeutic spaces (such as yoga or somatic work) makes the work either unsafe or completely inaccessible.
- Female-only spaces are often the only environments in which some survivors can begin to reconnect with their bodies, regulate their nervous systems, and engage in healing.

This is not about exclusion. It is about clinical safety, trauma-informed care, and accessibility.

To the people who are harrassing venues for taking our bookings: Please stop. This campaign of bullying is distressing, unlawful and completely unacceptable.

From now on all our venues will be private and only shared with the women who use our spaces. We are committed to upholding the single s*x boundary for the women who need us and we will not give in to the bullies.

What is all this rain about?! 😭☔️

We don’t want to cancel our walk again so if the weather is bad this Sunday we will be having a cosy cuppa in a cafe.

If you haven’t joined us before don’t be shy, this is a safe, informal, survivor-led space for women to meet and chat. You don’t have to be a survivor to join us, but this is a space where survivors can be heard.

Females who identify as transgender, non-binary or who have detransitioned are very welcome.

Booking link in our Linktree and we will send details of the cafe after booking.

It's back! We are pleased to be running a new six week course of trauma-sensitive yoga 🧘‍♀️

We are running these classes as a closed group, meaning you will see the same familiar faces every week. We know it can feel daunting to join a class, particularly if you are struggling with your mental health, and being part of a private group can help you feel safe, contained and supported.

The course is suitable for women who have experienced or are experiencing PTSD and CPTSD, anxiety and panic, depression, phobias, chronic stress, nervous system dysregulation, pregnancy or birth trauma. You are also very welcome to join if you simply have a preference for a women only class.

The venue has good public transport links. Full venue details will be shared after booking. Book via Linktree (link in bio).

Any questions about the class send us a DM or WhatsApp 🙏

We currently have a lot of women on our waiting list for subsidised counselling.

We work with a range of local, female therapists to provide support for women who can’t afford private counselling.

If you would like to directly support a woman to access subsidised therapy you can donate to our solidarity fund (link in bio).

Every donation goes directly towards helping a woman access the therapeutic support she needs.

Although we’re new, Sisters Heal is becoming a lifeline to women who need single s*x, trauma informed care.

Thank you so much to everyone who has already donated 💝

We are so sorry to say we have to cancel this week’s yoga therapy class and all future classes at Yellowave.

Although Yellowave have honoured our booking, and have been absolutely lovely, the recent attention these classes have attracted makes any future classes unviable.

We cannot risk anything happening that would upset or harm the women who attend, particularly given the trauma-sensitive nature of yoga therapy.

We know how popular these classes are and we are looking into alternative ways of running these classes safely.

Please accept our apologies for any disappointment. We are frustrated and disappointed too.

We know it’s January and everyone is skint which is why you can reserve your spot on our September retreat from just £190!

This four night retreat on the gorgeous Greek island of Syros combines therapeutic activities such as group therapy and EMDR with gentle, beginner-friendly yoga.

The venue is in beautiful countryside and a short walk to a sandy beach where there will be the option for daily swims.

You can choose to share a twin room, have your own private room or there are two luxurious en-suite studios.

Our private rooms go quickly and the April retreat sold out in record time. Don’t miss out on your chance to attend a transformational retreat dedicated to healing and connection.

We’ve had a lot of comments recently about our single s*x and trans inclusion policies.

No other local women’s organisations offer therapeutic single s*x spaces and we set up Sisters Heal in October last year to fill that gap.

We’re survivor-led and trauma informed and support women and trans people born female. We welcome all people registered female at birth, regardless of gender presentation or beliefs.

S*x is a protected characteristic and our therapeutic spaces are for people who were born female, were socialised as female and who share the unique experience of being female in a s*xist society.

Our yoga therapy classes are designed for women and trans masculine people who have experienced trauma. This includes pregnancy and birth trauma such as miscarriage and stillbirth.

Holding a single s*x space for these reasons is proportionate, legitimate and in-line with equality law and the women and trans people who use our spaces appreciate the option to heal in a place that centres their female experience.

We understand our model doesn’t work for everyone and we are not trying to be all things to all people. We are simply meeting the previously unmet needs of female people.

We are a small community organisation. We are funded by donations and run by volunteers. We’re not here to fight, or replace any existing support services. We’re just here to provide therapeutic support for the women and trans people who need us.

Thank you for your understanding ✌️ ♀️✨

Today we're going to tell you our biggest secret 🤫

But first we want to send a huge thank you to everyone who's supporting us! ❤️

The response to the launch of Sisters Heal has been incredible and we are honoured to be supporting so many women on their healing journey.

Okay so here's our secret.

We haven't paid for any advertising and we don't run fancy marketing or PR campaigns. Women have found out about Sisters Heal because...

We told our hairdressers.

And our hairdressers told their clients.

Thank you so much for the support and if you want to help us out please tell your hairdresser 🙏

We’ve had a couple of cancellations for our Group EMDR session in Brighton this Thursday. The session is designed to help you process one intrusive memory in a safe, supportive group. You don’t have to share the memory unless you choose to.

The session will be held at a few steps from Brighton station from 6-8pm.

Two spaces are now free. Booking link in our Linktree (in bio) ✨
