A humorous look at the way Direct Cremations are advertised.
There are a lot of choices when it comes to saying goodbye and direct cremations have gained a lot of traction lately.
If this is something you or a family member are considering, please do your research.
There are vast differences between organisations in terms of what they offer and how they care for your loved ones.
A good funeral directors will be able to guide you or you can talk things through with a funeral industry professional like me to understand more about how to make an informed decision based on your preferences.

White feathers have long been associated with an angelic presence, offering spiritual reassurance from deceased loved ones. They are gentle reminders of support, guidance and protection during times of grief and suffering. Discovering a white feather after the death of a loved one brings immense comfort, acting as a sensory thread between worlds.

Click on the link for a listen to this recent Radio 4 programme about how people are choosing to remember their loved ones in more creative ways. This episode includes an interview with students at Cranfield University, where I trained to be a Celebrant.

Matthew Bannister on changing attitudes to dying, death and how we memorialise our dead.

My journey towards becoming a Celebrant has been tough. The training I received was incredibly challenging and there were many times I felt like giving up.
I finished the course not sure if I was emotionally resilient enough to help others.
Having taken some time to heal and recover, I took my first tentative steps as a funeral celebrant, a role that feels so right for me at this point in my life.
I am so grateful to the families who put their trust in me to honour their loved ones and share their stories I have met some incredible people along the way and
am delighted to be the cover girl for the latest edition of the AOIC (Association of Independent Celebrants) magazine!

The trend for colourful coffins is part of a growing shift towards "celebration of life" funerals where traditional, somber burials are replaced with personalized, vibrant tributes that reflect the deceased's personality and passions.

In honour of Dying Matters Awareness week (4-10 May) - An event run by Hospice UK to help normalize conversations about death and dying, I am holding informational sessions throughout the day on 6th May at The Pamper Pod.

My aim is to help start the conversation about your wishes for after your death and to answer any questions about death and dying from the persepective of a funeral industry professional.

You will come away with a document that records your preferences as well offering clarity and peace of mind.

Questions such as "do you want to be buried or cremated" and "what is a direct cremation" or "what kind of service do you envisage" can be discussed openly and answers shared with friends and family, helping prevent your loved ones having to second guess your wishes when the time comes.

On 6th May I am offering my time free of charge and will be opening bookings for small groups(up to 3 people) or individuals to come and take advantage of this unique opportunity in exchange for a donation to Hospice UK.

Each session will last approximately 60 minutes with time slots available throughout the day.

Message me to book your place or with any questions.
