what a wonderful week of all things kindness – the theme of mental health awareness week that ends today. ⁣

at Inner Flow Zone, we have experienced, watched, read and been involved in a vast array of kindness related articles and actions, and we are closing our official working week with a huge amount of appreciation for the kindness and love that is in currently our world as we all awaken to this ancient and often neglected knowledge.⁣

self-isolation has allowed us to go beyond the form, beyond what we can physically see and touch, to find connection in the formless – into the honest and true essence of both ourselves and others. ⁣

the unity of our isolation has given us common ground and a neutrality from which we can all build and grow. without the myriad of distractions that we have been forced to abandon and set aside for now, we have been able to focus more on our inner self, our physical self, our friendships and the things we value the most. ⁣

it’s magical to experience that even when humans are separated, there is a stronger connection: our collective love is shining bright and becoming increasingly more intense. it is a welcome awareness during the pandemic.⁣

and as we start to transition out of lockdown, we can harness and embody this awareness. we can contemplate how we can maintain our newly found sense of self as we diligently forgive with loving kindness old behaviours, thoughts and actions, both to ourselves and others.⁣

we’re all learning how to live within new guidelines, limits and routines and here at IFZ we are navigating new roads into technology to support and reach more of you online.⁣

are you getting your daily d.o.s.e of kindness?⁣

we are so pleased to talk about kindness today - the theme of mental health awareness week [18-24 may] - as we feel that it is an important aspect of our wellbeing, especially at the moment. the benefits of kindness to ourselves and others affects us both physically and mentally.⁣

kindness to IFZ, as reiki masters, is not just about holding open a door or giving someone a present. to us it is one of our ‘principles’ or ‘guidelines for living’: ⁣

just for today … i will show kindness to myself and to others.⁣

on a physical level, your body responds automatically to kindness by releasing feel good chemicals into the bloodstream:⁣

d – dopamine⁣
o – oxytocin⁣
s – serotonin⁣
e – endorphins (including substance p which relieves pain)⁣

kindness to ourselves at this time is to acknowledge when you’re having a bad day, for whatever reason. it’s about taking time for yourself to pause and either show love, honesty and understanding to what’s gripping you, or to hit the reset button by e.g. meditating, exercising, grounding or even having a nap. and even if you reach for the biscuits, give yourself a break from the guilt. ⁣

everyone is feeling the effects of the covid-19 pandemic, and we are all sharing the same range of emotions to navigate our way through it. if you encounter a grumpy fellow human, try to think of their bigger picture. they may be lonely, or have lost a loved one or a job. ask yourself ‘what would love say?’, and respond accordingly. you may have just made their day.⁣

the more kindness that you give to yourself and others, the more you will become familiar with how your body responds to the daily d.o.s.e. you will begin to notice the subtle changes in the flow of energy within you as you feel the health benefits kindness readily offers. you will learn how to set your own personal healthy boundaries and how to avoid uncomfortable situations with confidence. ⁣

how to protect your body’s energy field as you go out in public during lockdown – it’s all about intention.⁣

we hope that you are managing to get outside for exercise, fresh air and shopping during lockdown. through reiki, we have learned how to protect our energy field to prevent us from being affected by any negative energy, and at this time we are making sure that we have protection ‘on’ at all times. ⁣

it’s really easy to do and we’d like to share a simple technique with you. all that you need to help you deal with fearful thoughts about going out and about is to activate a powerful energy that we all possess: intention.⁣

begin by closing your eyes. breathe deeply three times and imagine that you are inside an egg shaped bubble of light. ensure that the egg encapsulates your whole body. ⁣

as you move around inside the bubble, visualise that the egg has an elastic skin that stretches in whatever direction you wish. it allows two way traffic for all positive thoughts and feelings, but any negative thoughts, or particles, close to you will not pierce the egg’s outer skin.⁣

we recommend putting protection on when you get up in the morning and taking it off at night when you go to bed. you can reinforce it at any time. it can also help you in your home, e.g. if you have an unwell housemate.⁣

for extra confidence, as distancing eases in the future, visualise that there is a light inside your bubble of protection that can be turned up as one would a dimmer switch. visualise that the light extends out of your bubble, illuminating and strengthening your immunity and confidence as you spend time with work colleagues, friends and encounters with others.⁣

retaining inspiration and creativity during lockdown can be tough. at IFZ we’ve found getting back to our flow can be accessed using this technique from ⁣

it creates a calm vibration in which to receive creative and practical solutions by quietening your internal chatter.⁣

It is especially helpful when used to “prep” before creative deadlines, team zoom calls, or even your lockdown food shop. you can use it in the morning to prep for the day—and remember to reboot the process occasionally:⁣

inner-ease™ technique ⁣

1- acknowledge your feelings as soon as you sense that you are out of sync. common stressors inc feelings such as frustration, impatience, anxiety, overload, anger, being judgmental, mentally gridlocked. ⁣

2 - take a short time out and do heart-focused breathing: breathe a little slower than usual; pretend you are breathing through your heart or chest area. this helps create coherent wave patterns to your heart rhythm, restoring balance and calm in your mental and emotional nature.⁣

3 - imagine with each breath that you are drawing in a feeling of inner-ease and infusing your cells with balance and self-care from your heart. it’s scientifically proven that radiating love and self-care through your system activates beneficial hormones and boosts your immunity. ⁣

4 - when the stressful feelings have calmed, affirm that you want to anchor and maintain the state of ease as you re-engage in your day.⁣

the mind and emotions operate on a vibrational level. some emotions take longer for the vibrational rate to slow down; just relax with it, no force. ⁣

slowing down the stressful vibration helps re-establish and maintain the connection and coherent alignment between the heart, mind and emotions throughout the day.⁣

y o u a r e e n o u g h :⁣


we started to write this post to help to explain why and how we can be feeling our current ups and downs in mood, which can happen out of the blue with no reason. ⁣


we are pretty geeky here at ifz and love to go into the science and describe how energy works along with our reiki, so we dove into looking at the earth’s magnetic fields, the schumann resonance, wi fi, solar storms and the ionosphere’s effect on our bio-magnetic energy flowing through our bodies.⁣


we wanted to help by explaining the science, but realized the most useful thing we could post right now was those 3 words – you are enough. ⁣


as much as knowing a ‘why’ can perhaps help us feel more relieved, it doesn’t make the initial feelings go away. also when we are low we don’t have the energy to do the yoga we know helps to raise our spirits, or to take the walk we know helps us to feel refreshed. logic goes out the window, and that ok. sitting and allowing ourselves time is enough. after both world wars, soldiers would come back from the trauma and spend time convalescing. we just don’t allow that to ourselves anymore, even during these stressful times.⁣


so with the myriad of things that can be causing our fluctuating moods and energy right now, the only important thing to know is that we are enough and that’s ok.⁣


go easy on yourself. whatever you do today, let it be enough.⁣

Reiki Energy Wellbeing for the Creative and Music Industry.

based in london, inner flow zone was founded in april 2018 by reiki masters and teachers fiona houston and pollyanna stringer to offer the experience of reiki within the creative and music industries. Our intention is to encourage enhanced creativity, inspiration, open thinking and to stabilize the differing states of energy flux that creative and music artists are exposed to on a daily basis. we aim to do this by focusing on the energy health benefits specifically for those working in these industries.

[ philosophy ]

we at inner flow zone are passionate about the health issues that the creative and music industries face on a daily basis. they are fast paced industries that keep unsociable hours, impinging on natural sleep rhythms and eating patterns. frequent and seasonal deadlines and projects through the year mean that routines can go completely out of the window, along with a host of other healthy rituals that our bodies need.
