A Lancing man has spoken of the difference our Virtual Ward has made to both his recovery and his family life.

Following emergency hospital treatment for a painful leg infection, Gregory was transferred to our Virtual Ward, where he received hospital level care at home. The service not only helped him recover faster but also provided essential support and relief for his wife during a challenging time.

Last week, we were joined by our new ICB CEO Karen McDowell who visited services in Brighton including our Sussex Rehabilitation Centre. This is one of only 35 specialist limb centres across the UK.

During the visit, Karen heard about the life changing work, dedication, compassion and skill of the team at the centre.

We’re recruiting Digital Support Volunteers across Sussex!

Help us support patients receiving end-of-life care by introducing them to our new Digital Comfort Tracker app. The app allows patients and carers to log symptoms from home, offers links to trusted resources, and provides a sense of connection for patients who may otherwise feel isolated.

You’ll call patients from one of our bases to explain how the app works, help them get started, and pass on any questions to the healthcare team.

The role is for four hours a week and is a great chance to support local patients, gain experience, and be part of an innovative new project. Not suitable for those under 18 or anyone currently caring for a loved one in their last year of life or recently bereaved.
