We invite you to participate in a complimentary online seminar aimed at deepening your understanding of the evidence and practice of facilitating birth using peanut balls. During this enlightening session, you will gain insights on the efficacy of incorporating peanut balls during the induction of labour, and how they can be used with an epidural to reduce labour duration and caesarean section which has been proven to mitigate the need for subsequent interventions. Join us as I deliver a concise 20-25 minute presentation, followed by an interactive Q&A segment.

🫄This interaction Zoom course is for all birthworkers.

🫄Many hospitals around the UK have one or two sizes of peanut ball on their labour wards and in their birth centres. However, no midwife has received training on how to use them to optimise the best outcomes. This could result in a birth worker, using a peanut ball to prevent an intervention, unintentionally making the situation worse, due to their lack of knowledge. To ensure the safety and well-being of both mothers and babies, it is essential that birthworkers receive comprehensive training on the optimal use of peanut balls. My training includes updates of the latest research, and details of new positions, at no extra cost; also providing unlimited access to the online e-learning course. Included is a pdf of the Peanut Ball slides for all positions taught, plus access to a private WhatsApp Community page. For hospitals, a Peanut Ball guideline is offered and an audit guide. A free monthly Zoom call, Introduction to Peanut Balls, can be found on my website, where you can book a place on one of the next sessions.

👼Secure your spot now for Zoom Online Peanut Ball training Course designed for birth professionals. While peanut balls have become commonplace in maternity hospitals across the UK and internationally, proper training in their use has been lacking. Effective use goes beyond simple placement; it requires a deep understanding of physiology and fetal positioning to optimise maternal comfort and labour progress.

Join me on Wednesday, 13th November, for a course that promises to be:

▶Highly educational
▶Packed with practical insights
▶Grounded in the latest evidence-based research

· Discover a Safer and Easier Labour with Peanut Balls
In the evolving landscape of childbirth practices, the use of a peanut ball during labour has emerged as a promising strategy to support better outcomes for both mothers and babies. This non-pharmacological intervention is grounded in the biomechanics of childbirth, aiming to facilitate the baby's rotation and descent through the pelvis by optimising maternal posture and movement. The importance of adopting comfortable positions during labour cannot be overstated, and evidence supports that such practices are not detrimental to labour progress. The use of peanut balls has been particularly beneficial for labouring women who have received an epidural, as it helps in maintaining an effective peliatropic posture without compromising the safety of mother and child.

How They Work
The peanut ball, distinct from the conventional birthing ball, is specifically designed to assist during labour by facilitating the baby's movement through the birthing canal. This tool, shaped to fit between a woman's legs, allows for various positions such as lateral, supine, or sitting, which are crucial for increasing pelvic dimensions and promoting fetal rotation and descent during the second stage of labour, and also due to their unique shape are excellent for leaning on.

Scientific Studies and Evidence
Extensive research underscores the effectiveness of the peanut ball in reducing labour complications. Studies have documented a decrease in the length of labour and cesarean birth rates among women using the peanut ball.

For instance, a randomized controlled trial highlighted that the use of a peanut ball reduced the second stage of labour by an average of 29 minutes and decreased cesarean rates by 11% compared to control groups. These findings are supported by additional research, which also indicates a significant reduction in the first stage of labour for nulliparous women using the peanut ball.
